Let your pc rest first for 5-10 mins. then when you open it press both "delete and F8" rapidly. this will then take you to the Bios screen then save changes and exit.

I too have an Hp laptop with nvidia geforce 8400. I have faced similar problems(screen got divided into 8 parts) in past for 3 times. Every time I have to replace my motherboard at HP service center.... It is caused by overheating of laptop that destroys the nvidia graphic card.

Screen went black

You backlight gave out you will need to have the display replaced.

contact acer www.acer.com access the support section and shoot them a email and get this repaired if its under warrenty! Otherwise the screen will cost you a whooping $179.00 labor around $89 bucks if someone had to do it for you.

Black screen while laptop is still running!

Go HP's website and then go to their help and support section, under downloads (where you would normally go to get drivers) you can also get a BIOS upgrade or FLASH this will eliminate any BIOS problems. If that doesn't take care of it than perhaps your screen's connection to the inverter board is loose or it is just going bad.
Check to see if there is a ghost image, when the screen goes black look at an angle and see if the picture is there with no backlight. If this is the case than your backlight is intermitantly blacking out.
Perhaps it is simply going to standby and just cannot wake up this is a problem for many PCs. Disable standby and turn off monitor after x minutes features.
Finally automatically restarting is often a sign of overheating, use your laptop on a flat hard surface and eventually you will have to take the back off and blow the dust out if this is the case. Make sure all the fans work.
I hope this helps some.

Hp pavilion ze4930us notebook pc is dead

Hi danielb59,

Let do troubleshooting together.

First) if possible, connect a external monitor to your laptop. If you get a picture on the external monitor, then this means your pc is ok but the monitor screen on the laptop has gone bad.

Second) if the monitor screen on the laptop has gone bad, most likely the inverter component on the screen went bad (inverter provide back light). The inverter is replaceable but I do not know what they run. If your laptop is still under warranty, then please allow the manufacturer to fix it.

Those are your choices. Hopefully it helps and good luck.
