Return the machine, you can't be operating equipment you don't secure or track.

AOL questions should go to AOL and you know it. Perhaps if you know where you got the router (e.g. your telco) you would enquire after the default passwords for things they hand out, or ask your telco's broadband provisioning help section.

Just for fun, I'll tell you my hideously designed ZOOM DSL modem has a default username of "administrator" and default password of "zoomadsl". You should look up the password for the modem you have, if you are using your own router. Similarly, you might blow off anything AOL asks by clicking -cancel- whenever it bothers you (and it might work! What's AOL's business knowing that stuff, anyhow?)

My Belkin 4 port router has the same IP as my Modem so my router will not detect my DSL connection. Ive asked Belkin for help but all they send me is gobblygoop!

Hi!
I'm sorry to hear that Belkin did not help you with your problem. Let me help you with your concern instead.

Here's what we need to do:

Start by resetting the router to factory default - you just need to press and hold the rest button on the router for about 30 seconds (with the power on).

1.) Disconnect the Belkin router from your modem , connect a PC to the router (use the LAN port - either port 1 to 4).

2.) Open Internet browser - clear the address bar and type in http://192.168.2.1 , press enter. It will ask you for a password , do not type anything just press Submit. You should be able to access the router's web interface.

The router's web interface should like this (depending on the model #):

92853d1.jpg

3.) Go to LAN settings. Change the router's IP address to 10.10.10.1 (this will be the new IP address of your router) . Apply the changes. Once youapply the changes, you can access the router using the new IP - http://10.10.10.1.

4.) Reconnect your modem - router and computers. Reboot device by switching off the modem , router and PC.

5.) Power up the modem first. Wait for about 2 minutes, power up the router and restart your PC.

The steps I gave is applicable if your modem is not on bridge mode. If your modem is on bridge mode (meaning it requires a username and password from your ISP) - access again the router by going to http://10.10.10.1 and do the following:

Click Internet WAN > Connection Type and select PPPOE. Type the username and password from your ISP. Apply the settings. Reboot the modem and router.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

I dont know haow to connect Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS - wireless router

  1. Connect your modem to the Internet port of the router. Your computer needs to be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports at the back of the router.
  2. Access the router's setup page by launching Internet explorer and typing 192.168.1.1.
  3. It will ask for a username and password. Leave the username blank and password is admin.
  4. Once your in the setup page, set "Internet connection type" with what your ISP requires you to have.
  5. If you have cable ISP, usually it is "Automatic Configuration-DHCP."
  6. But if you have DSL ISP, then it will be PPPoE. You need to know your username and password from your ISP.
  7. Better yet, verify your Internet connection type from your Internet service provider.
Hope this helps!

If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and reconfigure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.

Logging in to a LinkSys Router
LinkSys Default Password On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."
Once you are past the login screen, you are able to reconfigure the LinkSys router.

Can't remember 13 digit WEP code for Linksys router. I am creating seperate accounts on Windows XP laptop and each account has to have a seperate setup to get to the router. How to find the original WEP...

hi dear

try this

On windows
Start-->Run
cmd
ipconfig /all

write down the IP address of the Default Gateway on your Local Area Network Adapter.

Open your web browser and type http://{IP address of Default Gateway}
ie http://192.168.0.1

The Web Administration Username and Password should be
Username: admin and the Password should be left blank by default.

Enable the DHCP server on the router. Save the settings.

Now enable the Wireless radio and give it a name (SSID) and use encryption (64-Bit WEP is sufficient). Give it a 5 character password and REMEMBER IT (make it easy to remember like the first 5 digits or your phone number or your street address). Save the settings and the router should reboot.

Now plug the WAN the cat5 cable into the modem and then other end into the router's WAN port. Cycle the power on the router.

Wait about 30 seconds.
Go to the laptop of WiFi desktop and enable the WiFi connection and scan for WiFi networks. Connect to your (the SSID you entered) then type in the password and you should be good.

You can always use a cat5 ethernet cable and plug it into one of the 4 switch ports on the router to get a more reliable connection.

oke

Netgear WGR614

First thing I did with my Netgear is this.
Plug in the dsl/cable modem to the PC directly. Then install the driver on the cd. If you are one of the unlucky types like I was, the router didn't come with a cd. Try going to Netgers page see if they have a driver. Most are basically auto install. Try this before you check the netgear site though. Plug in the cable/dsl modem to the router and the pc to the router. Resstart everything. This includes the modem, router and pc. When it pops back up, try seeing if that works. if not, try opening up Internet explorer. Type this in to the url. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0
That should bring up the netgear setup page for the router. If it ask for a password, the password on mine was
username - admin
password - password
It has an auto configure tab so click on that and that should automatically take care of everything for you. Let me know what happens!

Just bought a philips wireless router, need to enter a login password,it says to refer to user manual problem is it didnt come with one!

Hi, Often the username and passwords are generic for routers and such until you specify one. I think it is easier to leave it generic unless you think someone may want to getinto your router as it is just another password you have to try and remember.
According to my research Philips ones are just "blank" so you should be able to just press enter. (See this small article about Philips routers and modems.)
http://www.zultrax.com/p2p/help/firewalls/philips.htm

Some ask for both a username and password and others just ask for a password, by default they are blank.

Let me know how you go,
