Question about HP Officejet J6410 All-in-one InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I have a J6410 and the display reads 'fax log full'. I am unable to manually send or receive faxes. I have tried clearing the fax log in the solutions software centre but it keeps reappearing after individually delete each entry. Up until a month ago it was working fine. I am running xp sp3

tried plan B with no success so I will try uninstalling printer software and re-installing it tomorrow.

Thank you very much- this first suggestion appears to have worked by clearing the instrument memory and allowing me to send a fax. However the list of faxes sent/received is still listed when I go to 'Solutions centre' and fax settings. The delete option is not not highlighted on the buttons blow that tabbed screen

excellent option- wish i could have found it in the telephone book sized instruction book

Have you tried clearing the Fax Logs from the printer? If not try the following steps, (I can't make this specific, but I hope this sequence would be similar)
Press "Settings" button (looks lika a wrench)--> press the arrow key and navigate to "Tools", --> "Ok", again press the arrow Key and navigate to "Clear Fax Log" then "Ok", this should delete/clear all the fax logs (saved faxes).

If the problem still persists, the follow the steps below:
Press the Setup (Setting button) button.
Scroll to and press "Tools".
Again Scroll, and press "Restore Factory Defaults". After few seconds a message with "Defaults Restored"will be displayed.
Now, press the Cancel button to return to the main menu.
Once again try faxing and if there's no changes, follow the steps as mentioned in the first para, i.e.:
Press "Settings" button (looks lika a wrench)--> press the arrow key and navigate to "Tools", --> "OK", again press the arrow Key and navigate to "Clear Fax Log" then "Ok", this should delete/clear all the fax logs (saved faxes).

If you need further help, please let me know with whatever you've done so that I wouldn't continue with those instructions.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi,

disconnectthe printer from your computer, uninstall the printer software/programfrom your computer's control panel, restart your computer, reinstallthe printer software and try again. If that still does not solve theproblem, then you will have to follow a plan B option.

You willhave to download Hp diagnostic utility on your your computer, install ison your computer and it will help to detect and solve the problem.

Visit the hp link below, read all the information on the page and download the diagnostic tool from the page.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02114788&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&product=441125

Lastly, you might not need to uninstall the printer software, you can justdownload and install the diagnostic tool from hp directly.

Take care.

Can't fax because fax log is full all the time

You need to clear the fax log. Press the control panel's button (right or left) until you see 'fax log' on the display, then press OK or Enter (depending on the printer). Press the control panel's button again until you see 'clear fax log' or 'delete fax log' on the display, then press OK or Enter. You should get a confirmation message on the panel display. You can turn the printer off and then after a few seconds turn it back on. The fax log memory should be empty now.

HP6110 All in one

When the HP Office jet series all-in-one front panel screen displays Memory Full, the HP Office jet all-in-one is not able to send, receive or forward faxes. Copying will also not work. WORKAROUND: Though the memory buffer should clear itself automatically after proceeding with the next task, like receiving a fax or starting a copy job, these suggestions below may help you clearing the memory buffer by:
  • Add paper to the HP Officejet series paper tray
  • Clear a possible print jam and proceed printing the fax.
  • Reduce the copying or faxing resolution via the front panel's menu.
  • Use the HP Manager to send a (group) fax or making a copy. More memory is available this way, as the HP Manager utilizes the PC memory. When sending a group fax, the HP Officejet all-in-one's memory is filled to capacity. To copy in color is only possible from the HP Officejet Manager.
  • Press START to clear the message. If this message persists, unplug the power cord, and after at least 15 seconds plug the power cord in.
CAUSE: The HP Officejet series memory may be full due to: Copying on Photo quality or sending a group dial, which will use an extensive part of the internal memory's capacity. No paper in the paper supply tray, while receiving a fax. This may result that the data remains in the buffer. Print jam while receiving a fax or copying. The data is still stored in the buffer. System error displayed on the HP Officejet display window. SUMMARY: The HP Officejet series will not fax or copy without sufficient memory to store the data of the page in the buffer before printing the receiving fax or the copy.
