Fix graphics card on Dell Dimension E510

Got the diagnostic lights 2 and 4 after buying and installing a new power supply. I also bought 512 MB of memory and installed it but I didn't buy a matched pair of memory cards. Anyway life was good for the evening but the next morning it froze up and I couldn't use ctl alt del so I turned it off by holding the power button until it went off. It didn't come back on...Can you help? Thanks

Something on the motherboard may be damaged, if you replaced a power supply the motherboard really needs to be checked to see if there is any damaged components on it. my best guess is there are damaged components on it and you may need a new motherboard as well

How do I fix a dimension E510 with a solid amber power light?

A steady or Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I have a Dell Dimension E510 and was told the Radeon 4670 would work in it. I installed the card but the computer just goes on and off and on and off. Is the card too powerful for my computer? Or do...

You do need to install the drivers before using your new card, but that would only effect the display if you didn't. If the computer is actually shutting down, then I think your power supply might be the problem. Check your card's manual to see what the minimum power input is. Then compare that to what your current power supply's output is. These new cards draw a lot of power and if your power supply can't handle it, the computer will shut down. If it does turn out you need a more powerful power supply, you can find them online. It's a fairly easy change to make. Hope this helps!

I have a dimension 4100, and only have 512 in ram because it only has 2 slots, is there any way to use a bigger stick to increase ram?

Yes, if only one slot is being used you can install another 512 MB of ram which will give you 1024 MB or 1GB. If both slots have 256 MB in each one then you will need to just buy a 1GB strip of Ram. Go to the link I am posting and let them scan your computer. They will tell you exactly what you can install and the price. This is a site I use all the time and it is reputable and safe with good prices. This will require a download of the scanning tool which is safe. Allow the download. http://www.crucial.com/

No you don't have to install a 64 bit OS. Only if you install over 3 gigs you MUST install a 64 bit operating system. 800MHZ is fine it will just back down to 667MHZ. your 32bit windows OS will see up to 3 gigs (minus graphics card memory). SO 2 gigs will work fine. Install one stick at a time and check in the OS and bios to make sure each stick works. I would say you possibly have a dead ram stick.

Dell dimension e510 won't turn on

Unplug the power cable from the power supply in your computer and reinsert it. If you still have nothing, most likely a dead power supply.

Memory detected/Memory failure on Dell Dimension PC

So basically the computer does not start. Because I am not sure that is what you are saying.

I think from my understanding it is an issue with vista rather than with the computer. Somehow the new driver has put your computer in sleep mode. The computer of friend of mine starts by itself.

Another I want to say that the memory cards are fragile they can go bad. The way you touch them it is important.

Dell 30

i think your graphics card does not support such a high resolution. 2560 x 1600 is a crazy resolution and 256 MB isn't gonna cut it anyways. try looking at the specifications on the graphics card box. it should say the max resolution. if you tell me the exact name of the graphics card i can figure out.

hopefully that helps
