Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

There is no sound in my laptop.Sigmatel audio has stopped working and i m unable to uninstall it .I m also not able to uninstall other programs like yahoo toolbar and others.

The best way to fix the issue is by performing System Recovery. Recovery will erase the complete data. I therefore recommend you to take the back up of your data and then perform recovery.
You can reinstall drivers from recovery

Auio drivers not working

First uninstall all audio drivers
then go to this site and download drivermax:
drivermax.com
register a free account
look for and download the drivers it tells you to.

The Internal Mic In My Dell Inspiron 1525 Isnt Picking Up Sound??


You need to set the internal mic as the default input device. To check this Right click on the sound icon next to the time and select Recording properties. In the Recording properties right click on Arrey Microphone and select set as default. If this does not help. Uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers. To uninstall the sound drivers click on start and type DEVICE. Open device manager from the results and then look for sound devices. Click on the Plus sign next to Saound and audio devices. Right click on the SigmaTel entry there and select uninstall. Put a check on remove this driver from the computer. Once done restart the computer and go to support.dell.com and click on Drivers and Downloads. Enter your system service tag and download the Sigmatel audio drivers and install them. Check if the MIC works after the restart. If the Arrey microphone is set as the default and you have uninstalled and resinstalled the drivers and it does not work in MSN try recording with the Windows sound recorder and see if it works there. To open the sound recorder click on start and type SOUND. Open sound recorder from the results. Incase the mic does not record even in the recorder it could be bad or have a loose connection. If in warranty call/chat with the Dell technical support. If the warranty has expired consult a local computer guy.

I have a suggestion/solution for this that I need you to try. Here it is:

first, go to add or remove programs, look for Creative/SoundBlaster and Sigmatels listed there and uninstall every one of them. Then, go to Device manager and uninstall Creative/Soundblaster/Sigmatel under sound and game controllers. reboot the system.

now download and run this,
E1505/6400 BIOS

System sound not working on Dell Inspirion 6000 laptop


There are two sides of the problem. Hardware and software. To check whether the hardware is defective:

Try running the Pre-boot System Assessment (PSA):
1. Shutdown system
2. Press and hold on the "Fn" key.
3. Press the power button to turn the system on while holding on the "Fn" key.
4. Run the PSA until you get to the "colored bars". Then press "N" to say no.
5. Should you hear the beep codes, that means that the sound card is working fine. If you don't hear anything, then you need to replace your motherboard.

Now if your hear beeps that means that there's something wrong with the driver and audio settings. Do the following:

1. Right-click on My Computer then click on Properties
2. Click on Hardware then Device Manager
3. Click on the (+) beside Sound and Audio Devices
4. Right click on Sigmatel then click "Uninstall".
5. Go to support.dell.com
6. Click on Drivers and Downloads
7. Enter the Service Tag of your system (found at the bottom of your laptop)
8. Then download the audio driver. Just save it on your desktop first.
9. Restart the computer.
10. Install the driver.
11. Go to Control Panel -> Sounds and audio
12. Make sure that Sigmatel is the default sound device.

Dell Inspiron 1150 Sound Card


Hi Pace,

Got to Start>Control Panel>System. Click on the hardware tab. Click on Device manager. Go down to Sound, Video and game controller. See if the Sigma is listed there. If it is, right click an select "Uninstall" Then reboot. Windows should detect it, and reinstall it. If that fails, go to Start>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall any Sigma Software. Download this registry cleaner,
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download458.html and save it to your desktop and run it. Reboot, and hope.

My volume stopped working


Hi!

Have you tried doing the system restore? If yes, then try to do this ff steps:

1. Uninstall the sigmatel driver in add or remove programs
2. Uninstall the sigmatel driver in device manager (click the + sign under sound, video and game controllers)
3. Download and install the latest Sigmatel Driver at http://tinyurl.com/yo24rz
4. Reboot the system.
