LG LHT734 How can the system be kept in "matrix" sound mode? Whenever the system is turned off or sometimes when the TV channel is changed, the sound has to be reset to "matrix" mode for sound to come from rear speakers.

The set is 2 months old. It's an Hitachi 1080HD 50 inch TV.

  • DrHuval May 10, 2008

Well it seems to be working...for now anyway.
I turned the TV off, then on, then changed channels and the sound is coming from all speakers. If I lose it again, can I send another request for assistance?

I assume you press the VSM button to get it to this mode, correct?

Have you tried pressing the SOUND button until you get to this mode and then turn off the tv and see if it comes back with VSM as default, if it doesn't then it won't, just the way the system is.

Please let me know how this goes, thanks

I have a sky+ hd box connected to an lg 42LH300 tv through hdmi and an LG HT805SH home cinema through optical cable. Whenever i turn sky over i lose sound and have to turn cinema on/off to sound returns ...

One of the way to connect the whole system is using only HDMI cable version 1.3a. There is audio return channel built into the cable. So you do not have to connect the optic cable.
Sky box to TV using HDMI
LG HT805 to TV using HDMI. Even the Sky box audio will come back to the LG-HT through the audio return path.

When watching a DVD in surround sound movie mode

FIRST- double check that the center channel is hooked up in the center channel connection. we have all made this mistake. second if you are watching a movie through a dvd or bluray player be sure that both your audio L/R rca's or hdmi cable's are plugged in. I do not know if your are on cable or satellite? Double check the connections. Be sure that the that if your can select your sound preference turn it to 5.1 surround or matrix. hope this helps

Impossible to change channels, turn TV on, Power and Opc blinking

go into programming mode and search for channels   it will do this automatically to find all antennae and all cable channels    if this is hooked up to a receiver box then only channel 3 will be found or used    also most tvs are computerized these days and at times it will need to 'rebooted'     unplug the power and wait 10 seconds and plug it in again    this may have to be done whenever you are locked out from changing channels or using the volume controls

Lg home theater to lg plasma tv

This is a typical problem with TV broadcast UNLESS you use a matrix DSP surround sound mode, most DVD audio is either Dolby digital 5.1 surround or DTS multi-channel surround sound, unless you are viewing a HDTV broadcast with 5.1 Digital sound connected from the TV to the receiver then you are probably receiving a 2 channel Stereo sound format, I would suggest that you try to set your TV input mode to a audio Dolby Pro- Logic which will yield 5.1 and should engage all speakers.

Audio function "Bypass" - problem

try to increse the volume centre channel level so that u could hear better vocals. or do one thing if u r connected with optical cable only. just connect single RCA cable from dvd players centre channel output to the TV input (Left/mono) so that u can only hear the center channel volume thru TV and all other from speakers even the LG is working..
