If the compressor is not clicking on then the relay or the capacitor is defective. Remove the unit out if the compressor is not working and check the relay unit , if the contacts are good , the check or replace the capacitor.
If however the comprssor is not holding on , the current drain must be checked using a clamp tester . if high the compressor can be faulty and might need an overhaul.

Just replaced the capacitor, and reconnected. Turned power on and heard a buzzing sound from the condensor, then the fan turned on. the unit only runs for a few minutes then shuts off

The buzz is the compressor failing to start. The blue or purple wire from the compressor goes to herm on the capacitor. If it's wired right and does not stare the compressor is bad.

I have a bryant fin. 15 years old. not getting cool air.i change the fiter.the fan is blowing.

Check the power to the outdoor AC...make sure it is running. If it is, someone will need to check to make sure the compressor is running and that the temperatures & pressures are good.

Ac compressor runs, no blower fan. fan and capacitor ok. bryant

so the outside compressor and fan are working good ? If the fan and capacitor check out good then check that the wire from the thermostat for the fan (usually green and tied to grey on a bryant) has voltage and if it does the control board needs replaced because it contains the fan relay

Air conditioner is only 2 years old. Outdoor fan is not working. Air is circulating inside house but not cool. Bryant Legacy line Model No. 123R Help - seems too soon for the compressor to go bad. What...

You said the outdoor fan is not running, can you hear the compressor running? If you can hear the compressor running then start by checking the fan capacitor. If you can't hear the compressor, then check the breakers or fuses or disconnect. One of these should be located near the outside unit. If you look at the contactor you can see the contacts. When the unit is off they should not be touching, when it is on then the moveable contacts should be pulled down and touching the stationary contacts. You can get some on at the thermostat while you watch the contactor to see if it moves when they change the thermostat to call for a/c. Let me know what you find and I can give you more advice.

Bryant model 594DNO24-E Air out of vents not cool, fan is not moving on AC unit.

I think you are talking about the outdoor unit so see if you can hear the compressor running. If it isn't running then set the thermostat so that the unit is not running and give the pressure time to come down.(15mins-30mins) Discharge pressure will build up if the fan isn't running and cause the compressor to shut down that's the reason for doing this. After this set the thermostat to call for a/c then see if the compressor is running. If it isn't first check your circuit breaker or disconnect or fuses. One of these should be located close to the outdoor unit. If you have power and it's not running then look at the contactor to see if it is pulled in. The contactor supplies both the fan and compressor. After that then check you capacitor. Some use a double capacitor that works the fan and the compressor. Let me know what you find

The outdoor fan on my central a/c is suddenly making a lot of noise. I have a Bryant - model #697CNO36. Thanks

Depending on the age and usage of the motor. And whether or not the motor is an oil-free motor or not will help to determine the problem.

Most times, a loud noise coming from a motor itself is contributed to the bearings going bad in the motor. This can be cause by lack of maintenance, blades out of balance, or the blade too far down the shaft and creating unusual wear on the motor.

You will most likely need to replace the motor and run capacitor in order to get rid of the noise. But only finding out how and why the noise started will allow you to prevent it from happening again.

Noisey compressor

Does it make the noise all of the time or just periodically? Does the outdoor fan run when it is making the noise. If the fan isn't running and the compressor is noisy at that time likely it is in defrost mode which is normal.
