Question about Televison & Video
I have a JVC Mod # av-56wp74 projection screen that when
swithed on will pop and then the sound will burp for a minute or so. No
picture will come up .
The pop sound is often given by a capacitor that is melting.
The part that most commonly fails causing this symptoms is the PSU board.
The PSU supplies power in different voltages to the different sections of TV. If fos some second there is sound, probably the DC lines going to ballast board to power up the lamp (or the CRTs-I do not have model info) is down because of PSU malfunction.
If the PSU is not faulty, next part to test would be the ballast board (s), that is also a power board.
Sometimes it is possible to find the sign of the fault at a glance, spotting a leaking or bulged capacitor or seeing the traces left by a short, but sometimes parts must be tested in full. Disconnect power first if you want to inspect the TV.
If you want to get a quote on repair call JVC. The customer support number is listed on manual and on their website.
