Re: printing problem for Brother MFC-8440
I dont believe this to be a printer hardware issue since you said it prints excel documents fine. If it were hardware related, it would genarally do the same thing to anything that is printed. I would advise you to download the latest and greatest driver for your printer.(make sure to download the correct one that jives with your operating system) I found this mirror site for your needed download if you need it... This is very easy to solve. Remove the drum and toner cartridge. Look into the machine where they sat. Now look up and you will see (a little aukward but its there) a glass plate the width of an A4 sheet of paper. Run your finger accross it. Look at your finger and will probably be dirty. This is the window the laser beam passes thru to hit the drum. When its dirty it does not allow enough ;light to the drum hence a weak beam and light printing. simples?
any scanner, indeed any document, picture format can be saved as pdf. i would suggest first scanning the document as text (for example to words, or openoffice or indeed whatever you use as your document management program) and then port it (sort of print operation) to any free available "translator" program which allow you to save file as pdf. alternatively you can scan your document as jpeg and then save it as pdf, but this tend to produce very messy outlook and results are usually horrible.
Hi I recently had this problem - tested fuser and all sensors. The fix is to reset the memory. To do this, enter the Maintenance mode. Menu, * 2864 (enter the number quickly) then type 01 ( zero one ), this will reset all memory including the user settings. Finally type 99 to exit Maintenance mode. The printer will restart and the error will be gone. Test out with copy and printer reports Hoping this fixes your problem Regards Lindsay
