Lens error, restart camera? Nothing happens when camera is restarted.

The camera may have gotten some dirt or something in the lens. If you need help with it, try this site: They just deal with service for the Canon Powershot models and nothing else. They do outstanding work on these cameras, that's where a lot of people go for help with the Canons. If you look on their site under their service and repair, you'll see your G9 model. It's $89 for the parts and labor and the servicing for the camera with the return shipping included. They're pretty much unbeatable if you need help with a Canon. They do excellent work. Best of luck with the problem on yours.

Lens error displayed in the left corner of the LCD. The objecting does not mechanical damage has been applied. Changing the batteries did not help.

Unfortunately a "lens error" message is not something that you will be able to fix. This error indicates a system failure and requires the camera to be sent in for servicing and repair.

try to remove the ring over the lens- this is just alluminium ring. I had same problem when my camera felt on floor... i thought its wrecked ... but it was 4 months ago and since that i made thousands of photos and its working fine. Remove the ring, i did it by forcing it, twisting and when removed - lens error was not appearing. I fixed that ring and placed back with a little super glue. Everything is ok.

Sometimes this happens.
If it's defective, take it back and get a new one.
Do not try to repair. Good Luck.

I have a Canon SX20 IS and it is jammed. Won't turn on. IS THERE A RESET BUTTON?

I'm not sure on that one, if it's a lens error it would need servicing. Try going to wince I know they just specialize in canon powershot problems such as you're experiencing. They're terrific if you have a powershot problem, your model and issue is actually right there on the site. Hope that helps some, good luck with it,

I am trying to turn on a newly purchased Canon SX20 camera but i get a message that says ''lens error'' and the camera won't start.

It may be new but the lens is damaged...that's why you get the error message. Take it back or take advantage of the warranty.

Canon powershot A590 displayes lens error, restart camera.

I had this problem. Nothing was lodged between the body and lens, restarting multiple times did nothing, cleaning, torquing, twisting over several days - nothing.

So, figuring "what could it hurt?" I just smacked it on the heel of my hand a couple times. Now it works.

firm percussive maintenance saves the day once again.
