Question about Dryers

3 Answers

I bought a Maytag washer and dryer - Serial # 10351246CA and #11567034CC in April of 2003. The dryer suddenly quit with no warning. When the "start" button is pushed, it makes a buzzing noise as long as you are touching the button, and the dryer does not start. If there is a simple solution, can you help me?

Is the buzzing noise the same as the end of cycle buzzing noise? If so then your cycle selector/timer is stuck at an end of cycle position. You may need to replace the timer. Thank you for the serial numbers but model numbers would be more useful as we may be able to look up parts and prices for you with the proper model number.

The most likely is that the timer control, or the control board must be replaced, try playing with the timer and see if you can unlock it in a simple way.
Most probably you will have to replace the timer, here is the part for your appliance.

Sorry , I can see when I post the link it resets to general page. Put SDE5401AYW in model number, then chose maytag in brand, dryer in appliance type, then timer/circuit board in part required.
Before replacing the timer, which is probably faulty, standing to your description. Someone should check inside that is not a problem with motor belt out of place (motor running alone).

Matag dryer not heating

Here is a link to maytag dryer repairs http://apcoappliancerepair.wordpress.com/?s=maytag+dryer . The most common problem is the thermal fuse. My question is. Does the heating element start to light. If not...... and you have changed the ignitor and thermal fuse. Then check the flame sensor to see if there is continuity threw it. Power to the gas coils and ignitor runs threw the flame sensor. CLICK HERE to see a flame sensor on a GE dryer. They are the same on most units but Maytag will be on the opposite side of burner chamber.

Maytag Dryer not producing heat

Might be a fuse due to a clogged lint buildup or possibly a bad blower wheel itself. On a gas dryer the fuse only kills the gas assembly. The motor will still work and the dryer will still operate with a blown fuse. If it heats a little bit and quits it could very well be the solenoids.

Old Maytag LDG 7500 AAL. Where is the correct placement for the fiber and spring washer on the two rear pulleys ?

Hi there the spring washers for the two rear pulleys have been superseded for quite some time now. The current replacement kit contains two fiber washers for each pulley. However, if memory serves me right the spring washer goes on first, then the pulley, followed by the fiber washer and the circlip.

Witch year

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER. The following link explains how to determine the date code for a Maytag appliance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576445-determining_the_age_of_your_maytag_appli

Look at the last two LETTERS in the serial number. The first letter represents the YEAR, the second letter represents the MONTH.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Do a complete inspection of the exhaust system. I believe you have a clogged vent hose - dont forget the outside vent.

Dryer wont work

I'm assuming that the dryer is gas, since both the washer and dryer are on the "same" breaker. I'd try replacing the wall plug before replacing the dryer. If you have a voltage tester, you should see if you are getting an honest 110 volts coming off the circuit. Since the circuit was a problem before, I would test it first and then more on.

Just bought a Maytag 3000 washer and dryer and

Most likely the metal is aluminum or stainless and you should worry about rust unless you wash your clothes with salt-water (seawater. not gonna happen.)

If you're really concerned, I'd attempt to reach a maytag customer service person.

800-462-9824
To reach a real person press 0 at every option. Should take three times.
