Hi.

It is a standard 3V Lithium Coin battery (Vanadium is mentioned only on Sony manuals- sellers call them Lithium Battery) , you can buy it at any local camera shop or buy online.

Here the part Sony Lithium Coin Battery CR1216-B1A

Or: Amazon.com: Sony Lithium Coin Battery

The battery is located inside the cassette slot. See the picture below, and do not forget to accept the solution.

All the best.

I have a DCR PC 100e which I have not used fir some 10 years. I suddenly want ti reusebit to record a soccer match and would like to activate the Digital Zoom function. But when I push the Menu dial disk...

I don't have a DCR PC 100e, but be aware the main battery in the camera also can be dead. If so, the voltage needed to charge the internal battery, can't be reached. Normally the main battery, should be capable of recharging the Vanadium-lithium battery, without the charger connected.
Just sit out the 24 hours, but be prepared to replace perhaps both batteries. The main and the internal. Not sure you can replace the internal battery yourself.

POOR COLOR QUALITY, NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT THE ROOM. SOMETIMES CAMCORDER WILL CATCH THE COLOR, THEN FADE BACK TO DIM LIGHT

I'm sorry that the video quality of the camcorder is poor. Sony camcorders will automatically adjust the shutter speed based on the lighting conditions. When video is being shot in low light situations, the camera will slow the shutter speed. This is normal operation and is not a service issue. To prevent this issue, record video in locations where more light is present.

You may use the White balance feature and check the operation. Refer the page 71 for more information. Refer the URL to download the Operating Guide:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD105-205-305.pdf

You may also perform a power reset and check.

Performing a manual power reset
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Disconnect AC power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery pack.
  4. Remove the lithium button-cell battery.
  5. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
  6. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position.
  7. Reinsert the lithium button-cell battery.
  8. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack.
  9. Turn on the camcorder.

I have a sony dcr dvd201 camcorder- the battery died, so i bought an energizer replacemet- i charge it and the screen comes on and says for info lithium battery only- and it is a litium battery for my...

The replacement battery you purchased is either lacking the battery sense circuitry or it is bad. Sony includes a circuit in the battery that provides information to the camcorder about the amount of charge in the battery and feedback during the charge cycle. Buy an original Sony battery (I know they are more expensive, but you get what you pay for) and your problem should be gone
