if you forgot your bios password then you can not access, you need to reset the bios. the first thing that you can do is look for the cmos back up battery at the board then usually their is a jumper near the battery which you can move it from one another to reset the back up. another way is you can remove the cmos back up battery for a while to reset the memory and as will as the bios password. good luck hope this will help you.

How to reset the bios pasword

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing a battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard.

Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself.
Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip.
So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.
Hope this helps

Forgot my password. Can I do something with the cmos to reset & not lose all the software that has been installed? It's a Dell Inspiron 700.

Disconnect the battery, unplug it, then open it up. There should be a small round battery called the CMOS battery somewhere in there. Pull that out. Then plug your computer in and boot it up without the CMOS battery. It should say password disabled. Turn it off, disconnect it, put it back together, and you're good to go. This only works if its the bios password that you forgot.

Locked bios on dell inspiron 6400

Is there any clr cmos written on the board. The motherboards which do not have jumpers come with three point like solder on the board. You have to short first two manually with some wire.
If it is not there then you have to flush the bios with the bios flushing utility.

Password Bios Losse

If you are the rightful owner dell will help you reset this.
but it will take some time.
you will have to remove the cmos battery (looks like a coin) under the keyboard and main battery
wait a few mins and try again.
if that does not work then only some techs knows what chip to short to clear.
like me.
