Here is the Platinum composition based on jewelry.

It is composed of six basic elements- ruthenium, rhodium, iridium, osmium, palladium and platinum- and these all have the silvery, almost white quality of the final product. Platinum alloys are made from mixing platinum, palladium, iridium and ruthenium with either copper or cobalt. Most platinum jewelry also contains small amounts of the rarer and more expensive iridium or ruthenium for added strength. The finest platinum jewelry is mixed with 10% of these elements. Platinum “fineness” [the relative amount of platinum in the piece] is marked on the jewelry, though markings vary from one country to another. In the U.S, general guidelines were set to minimize the potential confusion; with only 950 unit/part [23.5K] platinum marked as pure platinum. Thus anything simply marked “plat” on the back of the piece, without any specific indicators of exact measurement, is atleast 950 units of pure material out of 1000 units. Pieces that have 850 to 950 parts platinum are marked ‘850 Plat' [or abbreviated to 850 Pt]. Pieces with less than 500 parts- less than 50%- pure material cannot be marked ‘plat'. This is illegal in the States and Europe . In many European countries the minimum platinum requirement is even harsher than in the States and only 950 unit pieces are considered real platinum. On occasion, you can find 85% platinum [850 units] and this will be marked Pt 850.

I'm buying a necklace and pendant that says platinum plated and 14 K gold is it real and what does platinum plated mean

14 k and platinum plated are just words to make junk jewellery look more expensive
real gold is stated in C not k as the word is spelt carat
platinum is a precious metal but when used with the letter K it indicates that what you are looking at buying will have very little value in real terms

How to set three xtra dials on platinum tachymeter #10026?

I'm just guessing, but if you paid less than a 100 $ they are just cosmetic. If it is a fashion watch it is very likely just for show. Hope that helps!

I cant figure out how to set my new watchs' date i tried to see if there is a difference with how far you pull the stem out to try and set it that way and i also tried spinning it around in a 24 hour cycle...

There is probably a screw that is lose on the watch. Someone will need to pop open the caseback and make sure the screws are in place. If you or someone can't figure it out I suggest taking it to a watch repair person, do not go to a high end place they will charge more then what the watch is worth. Go to watch repair shop , and if they charge more then $10.00 then it's better just to buy a new watch on ebay.

I looked at a daytona two-tone the other day. The edges of the gold parts of the band had turned like a black color. Is this normal?

Most likely a fake watch. Rolex makes white gold, yellow gold, platinum and stainless steel watches. Almost always solid metal parts and not plated. It sounds as the plating on your watch is worn through and the underlying metal is oxidizing.

How do yo know if a rolex is a fake

Tough question as the counterfeiters are getting better and better. First check the case and band. Rolex used stainless steel , gold or platinum. Many fakes are plated, base metal which doesn't look the same as the real thing. If the seconds hand hesitates at each tick, it is 99.9% sure to be fake. Check between the watchband lugs on the watch. The serial number will be between the 6:00 lugs and the case (model) number will be between the 12:00 lugs. The only sure way is to take the back off and look at the movement. Best left to the professionals

Cannot switch machine on

Watches turn on when the crown wheel is pushed home.

If it does not start when you do this (try pulling it out and pushing it back in several times ), then would would seem to be a limited number of options.

If it is new, then return it to your supplier.

Get the battery checked.

Otherwise take it to a watch shop for repair.
