Question about D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router (DI624RE)

I have a d-link extreme g attached to a cable modem; the d-link is set for wirless. I can pick up the d-link on my ipod and laptop, however it only provides local access; no internet. I've tried everything I can think of. Thank you

I'm sure you have tried most of these steps but I'm going to list them any way so we have a complete picture of the trouble shooting process.

If your only getting local access that indicates that the router is broadcasting the wireless signal but unfortunately there is a connection issue between either the modem and router or the modem and the internet service provider. The first step is to verify that your modem is online with a good connection. If you have a working internet based phone than your in good shape. If not than you will need to research the light patterns of your modem or bypass the router to determine weather or not you have a connection to the ISP. The first step in trouble shooting a connection issue between the modem and router is to disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem and the router than reconnect it. Make sure that the cable is connected to the correct ports. Next you will want to power cycle the computer, modem, and router. To do this you will need to shout down the computer and disconnect the power cables from both the modem and router. Allow all devices to remain off for 2 minutes. Plug the modem in first. Wait for the modem to establish a connection with the internet service provider(ISP). Depending on the type of modem this can take up to 5 minutes. After a connection to the ISP has been made reconnect the power to the router. Wait about another 2 minutes for the router to establish a connection with the modem then turn on the computers in the home. From this point you will need to retest.
If you still only have local access than there is a good chance there is an issue this either the Ethernet port on the modem or router. To trouble shoot the Ethernet port on the modem you can bypass the router and power cycle the modem and PC again. If the PC has no access wile directly connect to the modem than there is an issue with the modem and will need to be replaced. The good news is that most internet service providers will replace the modem for free. If all the trouble shooting steps above have failed than you will need to contact the router manufacture directly.

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. IPOD touch connects to my wirless network but I have not internet access.


Dear, I had the same problem with my iPod. It's because (I guess) your modem/router has MAC adress filtering. You need to get your ipod full acces through you MAC filtering. To know your iPod's MAC adress, go to: Settings > General > Info > (scroll down) Wi-Fi Address. If you give me some more info 'bout your router/modem, I'll search some more info. My Laptop and iPod can't pick up my modem


From the laptop try pinging the router IP and then try to ping 4.2.2.2 or yahoo.com or google.com if you get replies the internet connection is fine and your router is connected to internet

As the issue is with 2 different devices it seems that issue is with router's internet connections, also connect the laptop with a cable and check the internet connection if that works fine issue is with the wireless security settings of the router

FIRST OF ALL YOU CAN ATTACH ROUTER TO ANY PC WITH LAN CABLE

AND CHECK IT IS WORKING OR NOT
IF IT IS WORKING THEN
REMOVE THE LAN CABLE

IF YOUR WINDOW IS XP THEN GO TO START SETTING CONTROL PANEL AND NETWORK CONNECTINON AND CHECK THE WIRLESS CONNECTION AND FOUND THE WIRLESS NETWORK
THEN WIRLESS NETWORK FOUND
AND CLICK THE CONNECT
IT IS WORKING

How do I get internet on my laptop from my pc not using a cable?


what you would need to get is a wirless router. If you have high speed internet then you can plug the internet modem into the wireless router and then plug your main pc into the router via an ethernet cable and then set up your laptop to pick up the signal wirelessly. If you have dial up internet then you would still need a wireless router but it is a little more complicated. You could hook up the router to your main pc and then set up internet connection sharing so that way your laptop could pick it up wirelessly. hopefully this helps.

How do i set up a wirless router for my toshiba satellite laptop?


One you plug in the router and connect it to your cable modem or dsl modem, your laptop should pick up the wireless signal. A diagram for this should have been in the box. The diagram should also show you how to log into the router to setup security. Go the router manufacture website. there you will fine complete instruction

Wireless connection lost


Wirless and modem systems both are different, there is no connection between them.

If you were using your modem for internet access then you should chek-out your modem and phone-lines etc. Wirless will not effect.

verify your modem driver is installed correctly and check the settings.
