For some unknown reason the ice maker stopped making ice yesterday. The water line is functioning properly because water is still available from the frig. There is no leak from the water line to the frig....
On all refrigerators with water and ice, they have what they call a duel water valve. One side of the valve will supply water to the door while the other side will supply water to the ice maker. First thing to check is to see if the fill tube is frozen full of water and preventing water from going to the ice maker itself. Next thing to check is if you have a style where there is a laser sensor which is located in the freezer that has one part on the left side and one on the right. You'll notice it because it will have an on off switch and a red light there. If the light is blinking then the laser sensor is bad and you'll need to replace it. If none of this is occuring then check your icer maker. The way to do this is to pull the cover off the front of it. you will then see a white circular gear and holes will letters located around it. Find the holes that say "M" and "N". Get a jumper wire and connect the two and see if the ice maker will manually start turning. If it does, letter it run and listen for a few minutes to see if you hear the water valve kick on to supply water to the icemaker. From my experiance, though, the water valve on the icemaker side doesn't usually go bad and the ice maker or the sensor, if you have one, has gone bad. If there is no sensor or it isn't flashing, change the ice maker. Your part number wll be 1129313 and can be ordered at apdepot.com.
