Several different hardware failures can cause this type of issue. The first step that should be taken is to verify that there are no lose or disconnected wires coming from or going to the computer. If when starting the PC your getting no power than there is an issue with the power supply. If you are getting power to the PC than you should listen for the beep code on start up. 1 beep after starting the computer signifys that the power on self test (Also known as the POST) has completed with out issue. When getting any other type of beep code you should research the meaning of the code. Beep codes differ from company to company. The best way to identify the meaning of a beep code is to type the manufacture, model and number of beeps into Google. Another possible issue is that your hard drive is corrupt. If this is the case than your computer will pass the power on self test(POST) but will have a message like MBR not found or one of many other errors. If you are getting an error than it is also a good idea to research the error to determine the proper fix. If the PC seems to boot correctly but there is no image on the screen than the issue may be a result of a bad video card. In that case the video card will need to be replaced.

Based on the way you described the issue I would say that it is most likely the power supply that has gone bad. This issue is very common and for most computer a new power supply will only run you about $20-$30.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

I have a acer.x223w when,it powers up the.screem stays black, n i get a blue blinking light on.the bottom

I disagree with ikkenom only due to the symptom of the flashing blue light. This would indicate to me that the monitor is not getting any display signal and is in sleep mode at least the is what happens on my Samsung monitor. Used to be that they use a two color led in the monitor, green when ON and getting display signal and amber or orange when in sleep mode. I would check the computer by trying a different monitor. If you have a second monitor, great, if not, maybe a friend will let you bring your computer over and try the computer with their monitor. Could also be a display adapter setting. Do you get any change when you first turn on your computer? i.e. Do you get the BIOS or manufacturer screen when first turned on? Also if you disconnect the monitor cable from the computer and power cycle the monitor, do you get a No Signal display for a few seconds before the monitor goes black and the blue light starts flashing?

Let me know what happens with the testing above or if you need further instructions to carry out testing.

Thanks, Jim

Inspiron 1501 wont start

Does it look like it is running with the exception of the screen being black?

Does it ever post anything on the screen when you hit the power button?

Beep tones and blinking lights tells thetechnicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lightscontinuous.

if there is no post sound (beeps) and the pc does have a speaker you can try this first.

remove the power cable
hold the power button in for 15 seconds to clear the residual power.
replace cord and power on

if you still have the same result, then you need to learn how to reset the bios/cmos on your system.

Monitor was in standby mode, computer was on. Now it shows no signal and when we try using the menu button (2) it flashes white, black, red, green, blue then a teal color.

the monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer which is why the multi coloured bars are showing. Ensure the lead is connected and is connected to the correct port of your computer. If it is connected correctly then either your graphics card is faulty or the lead, or monitor is

Be sure computer is actually starting. Power off then on computer you should see the boot sequence and then windows screen on monitor. If you do not see startup sequence monitor is not sleeping either the monitor has failed or the video card has failed. Try another monitor first.

Slow flashing blue power lite. Monitor shows no

First when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
If you are able to enter then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if you are not able to see safe mode and other menu.
Then open cpu cabinet .
Refix RAM memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Reattach all connection harddrive.
Open processor fan and processor remove dust from all parts.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Remove PCI cards if any.
After all above still same then change RAM then try.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

After starting the computer the screen is black and only displays digital analog on screen and the blue light is flashing. It then displays a box say "check signal digital analog." please help me. Thanx.

This blue light flashing means there is power to monitor bu NO video signal. No Analog or digital Video . analog is the regular plug for PC to Monitor, the other is HDMI digital or other digital. Check signal digital/analog means again: No video signal from PC detected.
