How did you remove the top cover to get at the arm for the cable drive? (I don't want to break anything else!)

I am trying to asseble the top part of the hoover windtunne bagless vacuum cleaner..But its not easy to get in and I don't want to break it.
Please advise,

Turn it over, remove the plate over the brush roll, remove the cover over the intake hose, then there are 2 screws, one on each site, remove them, then using a flat blade, there is a slot on each side, from the bottom, push it in to release it and then the top will come off.
