SOURCE: dirt finder

The sensor may be bad, or it may be coated over with dirt. Re,ove the hose at the back of the vacuum, the head of the sensor is down inside that opening, reach in there and clean it off and see it that corrects the problem, if not replace the sensor.

Both ends of the hose will unscrew, allowing you to push out hair and fiber clogs with a broomhandle. There is a coarse filter above the dustcup which will release with a 1/4 turn counterclockwise, allowing you to remove the hair and fiber bundles trapped in the inlet. The filter below the dustcup also tends to clog. Anything more and you have to start getting out the hand tools. bgovan445@live.com

How to open to clean

Hello! The dirt cup, filter and brushes need to be cleaned to ensure continued cleaning effectiveness. Below are steps for cleaning your Hoover Slider.

Turn switch to OFF position.

1. Press button and slide latch towards outside of cleaner. Rotate dirt cup toward back of cleaner.

2. While holding dirt cup, grasp filter frame and lift out filter. Empty dirt cup after every use. Dirt cup can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Allow to dry thoroughly.

3. Pull middle section of filter out of filter frame. To remove debris from filter, tap it on a hard surface or brush it with a soft brush.

4. Remove lint, strings, etc. from the brush roll located on the underneath side of the nozzle.

5. Replace the brush roll when the brushes do not touch the edge of a card as it is moved across the opening on the bottom of the nozzle.
Further disassembly of the cleaner is not recommended. Hope this helps!

Hoover troubleshooting

Hello! The umbrella tube is a stationary part, it does not rotate. The dirt that enters in the dirt cup spins around the umbrella tube. If no dirt is entering into the dirt cup this can mean there is a blockage either in your hoses and/or your filters. Try these quick trouble shooting steps below.

1. Remove the dirt cup canister from the vacuum. Twist off the dirt cup lid.
2. Remove the primary foam filter. Hold filter under running water until water runs clear. Allow 24 hours to air dry. If the filter is really dirty it may need to be replaced.
3. Slide the Hepa filter out. Tap the filter against the trash can until dirt stops falling. Replace the Hepa filter. (Do not wash)
4. Remove the hose from both ends. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear any clogs from hose.
5. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to loosen and remove any clogs from the lower hose. Hope this helps!

Hi there! To clean the canister or dirt cup, first remove the dirt cup from the vacuum. Twist off the dirt cup lid. Remove the pleated filter and empty the dirt cup. Tap the filter against the trash can until the dirt stops falling. If the filter is really dirty it may need to be replaced. The filter should be replaced every 6 months. I have included a link where you may go to purchase a replacement filter if needed.

Sorry, but the part number for the item you wish to reassemble to the machine doesn't help me find a schematic to see how to re-insert it. I will need the model number of the vac itself. Thanks.

Not familiar with your vacuum, but there are at least TWO filters and two seals in it, according to the illustrated parts breakdown above. Assuming the HEPA filter is number A23 (final filter) in the above url, it sounds like you've got a full cartridge filter/dirt cup A29, blocking airflow through the vacuum. There is also a prefilter, A55 that could be clogged. The suction fan is usually directly attached to the motor, such that if the motor turns on, the fan should be working. Of course a plastic fan that has been used to chew up wood chips might be in tatters, but the fan should be in serviceable condition. Look at the IPB shown above and locate ALL filters, dirt cups, etc. and ensure that they are not clogged with dirt. If you can, remove the filters, close up the unit and turn the unit on to check the airflow, which not only moves the dirt into the dirtcup, but also cools the motor. Anything that obstructs airflow will generally raise the motor temperature and the exhausted air. I believe you'll find a full A29 filter.Good Luck

Dirt is being trapped in the filter area instead of canister.

The canister has a filter as well. It needs to be replaced or cleaned. A damaged canister filter will feed dirt into the HEPA filter. (and the motor)
An improperly installed filter can allow dirt to bypass the canister filter and collect in the HEPA filter.
I suggest a new canister filter and then clean it carefully every week.
Here is a list of the filters for your vacuum.
