Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

2 Answers

I have a Kenmore Quietguard Standard model 587 Dishwasher. It's about 3 years old. Lately, it has been running fine through the first hour and then towards the end, it will pause and the "Hi Temp" and "Heat Dry" like will start blinking at the same time. It's like it is stalled. When this happens, I open up the door and look at the bottom of the dishwasher were the screen is, and I see there is standing water. I press the "Start/Cancel" button to help it drain all the way, which it does, but the dishes are still wet and it never goes through the drying cycle. Can anyone help me? What do these blinking lights mean? Thanks!

Replaced Heating Element, and it went through a full cycle once, but now I have ran it two more times and each time I got the Blinking Hi temp and Heat dry lights again and dishes do not dry, any more ideas what might be causing this?

Hi,
My take on that would be a bad heating element....the dishwasher is looking for the heat from it and that never happens....so it goes no further and gives the alarm....
I would get someone to check that heating element out and replace it if it is bad... they are a common part that fails regularly and often causes many problems when they do...

I am cmmiuser01 and not heatman 101 whose solution you excepted a while ago.

I had given you the part reference for the heater which I believe you have replaced and the dishwasher worked ok once.

But now it is back to the same problem again. So there is someting that is causing the heater element to blow.

Please confirm if the water is cold or warm when the cycle stops.

Looks like the heater has had it.
It is available as item 3 on this site. However, you will have to find out the full model no. of your dishwasher to get to the correct part.

Hello, i have a Kenmore Quietguard standard dishwasher. it is in the "lock" position under dry options and the dishwasher will not start. can you tell me how i might be able to re-start this?

On our Kenmore Quietguard the lock light is at the Air Dry button. Holding the Air Dry button for about 8 seconds turns the lock light off if it is on and on if it is off.

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

Will not drain

There maybe something stuck in the pump or the pump is bad. I have also seen obstuctions in the drain hoses comming from the pump causing it not to drain properly.

Kenmore Quietguard 3 has mold and is dirty inside

G'day, I have a Miele Dishwasher and I have only had one small problem with it in the 12 years I have own it. That was due to moving house, a bit of fluff had moved and was blocking an outlet. once cleaned with a brush it now works like new again. Best dishwasher on the market, made to last 20 years.

Kenmore Dishwasher #587.... doing nothing but heat dry

The problem appears to stem from the float and float switch. The float is a mushroom shaped plastic part that resides on the bottom left, just inside the door. It appears that the float does not release the float switch, causing the dishwasher to think it is full of water, and won't allow the dishwasher to fill. It's a relatively straight forward repair, but even with a new part, the same scenario is likely to repeat itself until the float or float switch is modified by Kenmore.
