It is Lamp/ Bulb that is near to end of its life span. Replace lamp in tv, replacement procedure is written in user manual. Make sure to buy Sony original lamp for bright picture.

Hey, it looks like u may have took it to far. Yes if lcd is like a shop light has inverter board which is a ballast and has bulbs in the screen assembly, so if dim to start and then gets brighter possible power supply or inverter board. Usually if bulbs go bad u can shine a flash light in the screen and see if u see any images which means the backlight is bad or bad screen. hope this helps
It is possible but a voltage check of the power supply will tell if it is bad or something downstream is pulling voltage down, power light going dim means something is really loading the supply down.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
In that case the power supply of your television have problem.Maybe there's a loose connection in the power supply board or maybe there's a leak capacitor.If you have no knowledge in repairing television and you want to do at your self, first things to do is to remove the back cover of your television.Look the power supply.Remove the screw and the cover of the power supply and try to resolding the board.Check if there's aleak capacitor.The leak capacitor have rounded shape at the top while the good is flated shape.Replace the capacitor with the same value.
Hmm dont know what model or tv you have but generally i would say on a lcd television I would suspect filter capacitors in power supply first. next would be a defective inverter board. Depending on size and brand the inverter board and power supply board maybe combined. If its a plasma then power supply filter capacitors or possible z sustain board failure.
How many hours had it done? The bulb may have expired and as a safety precaution the projector will not switch on, otherwise the bulb will explode causeing further damage.
