Question about Samsung AS18A6RB Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Humidity I have a split system that was installed to help control the humidity in my partially below grade piano studio.  I have had the service people come out on numerous occasions because there is no humidity being pulled from the air.  In fact, the air conditioner makes it far worse.  I have to run two dehumidifiers to bring down the humidity and then have to turn on the a/c because of the heat they produce.  Not a drop of moisture is flowing from the outside tube.  (It did pull humidity to some extent the first year, but not since) The company who installed the unit says that is how it is supposed to work.  Can anyone solve this problem?  I won't install in the rest of my house as I don't need to aggravation.  Diane Cooke

I have an LG 18000btu split type wall mounted airconditioner. The problem is that suddenly it stopped dehumidifying. For the first 8 months it would drop humidity steadily to below 25-30% and a lot of water (several lt) would flow from the external drain daily. This happened with internal temperature ranging from +17C to +29C in heat/cool/dehumidify settings. Now with internal temperature between +19 and +24 it does nothing and not a single drop flows from the drain. Humidity is stuck at 75-85% and the ac has no effect no matter what the settings. LG and certified technician (after 2 visits) claim the AC is working as supposed and that if I want dehumidifying I should buy a separate appliance (!). The covered area (ac centrally located) is between 20 and 100 sq meters, and it does not make any difference whether I try to operate it in small or large room area. Any suggestions?

Square footage of the studio should give the size of the air conditioner necessary to remove the moisture from the air. In order to remove the moisture the unit a/c has to operate with the coil temperature below the dew point of the air. If the air conditioner is to large for the job it will not run in the cooling mode long enough to remove moisture.

Why does my Mini-Split air conditioner emit a nauseatingly sweet odor and raise the humidity in my room when it's running. The vane is also wet a lot. Could there be mold in the drain pan/tray?

This is dangerous and the unit needs servicing. The unit could be the source of legionaires disease and other problems. I am guessing the servicing requirment is down to you not the landlord but contact him.

Hello We just installed a Sanyo KHS1271 mini-split

The condensate drain line was not properly installed. Make them pull the wall unit and correct the problem.
Be persistant until you are satisfied they have the problem corrected. Do not pay any additional money. If they do not correct the problem then report them online to the state board of heating and air. Fill out their requested complaint form and follow thru with a second complaint if you do not get total satisfaction from the contractor that installed the unit.
Hope this helps.

I have a split unit that was installed about 8 months ago. It worked fien until the hot summer came. Suddenly it began to drip on the wooden floor beneath it. I checked the drain outside and it seemed to...

If your unit is only 8 months old, then it should still be under warranty! Suggest you check the drain line to make sure that nothing has decided to make it home.

I would check the level of your unit to make sure that there is a slight grade to the rear of the unit, but I hesitate to tell you to shim it.

Because it is removing humidity from inside the house and condensing it to water.

LG remote problem

Most probably if the remote works on the other units then the receiver on your problem unit is busted. You have to call an authorized service repair shopr to replace the board.

I hope it helps.

Air con stuck on cooling mode!

Is this a Mini Split Ductless type Heat pump? Has it worked in the heat mode for you before? Have you tried killing and reapplying power to both the indoor and out door sections? Does it have a wireless remote? Are the batteries new in it?

I have to assume a lot because there is a lot of information missing to really know how to help you.

If these items helped would you please grade me accordingly. Thank you and GOOD LUCK.

Panasonic air conditioner. Very small amount of water coming out of unit. There must be a blockage, were do I look for it and is it still ok to run unit? Split sysytem model CU-A24BKP5

It is okay for water to come out of unit unless if it comes into your living space. Then your angle of the unit is off and needs to be readjusted. lean the unit away don't have it level. Needs small amount of angle for excess condensation to run outside.
