Network Adapter Problem New Computer

I have a HP Laptop and It Is 2 months old. I am showing a Error message & it won't Connect to my modem. This Problem just happened over night. Could this be caused by the virus: Backdoor. Hupigon?

The message is: The Network Adapter"atheros Ar5007 802-116/g wifi adapter" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues 6206-3284-N036-7801. Also it is saying resource settings-device isn't using any resources because it has a problem.

Please help what could this be?

thanks Pamm

Hello

is your wireless switich on, and please go in device manager and make sure you can see Atheros AR5007 in network adapter after that go right hand bottom on your laptop and see if it can detect wireless network if not, you can call HP and they will send you new wireless network adapter and no this is not Virus problem.

How to connect laptop (using internal wireless adapter) to a wireless network)

Make sure you have the correct Password exactly like it should be (case sensitive). If it is not correct, it will continue in the loop of trying to validate identity.

Also you can click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections then Right Click on the Wireless Connection and select Properties.

When the properties window opens click View Available Wireless Networks. Highlight your network by clicking on it then select Properties.

The Association tab will allow you to change the Network Authentication to WPA2-PSK if it is not set to that and if the adapter will accommodate it. And you can put in the Network Key or Password.

I went through several modems in a week due to a multitude of lightning hits. My modem always reported itself as fine, but it never worked. I would guess that your old machine doesn't use some feature which was destroyed. I would try to find a cheap adapter; they can be found for $10 or so.

If you connect the computer straight with your router with the help of LAN cable, then are you able to go online?
If yes then you may visit this website and chat with some technician online so that they can give you exact steps to follow.

It is 100% "normal" for the modem to *NOT* show up -- just use an Ethernet cable to connect from it to the network port on your computer.

> it has not been setup up with a network adapter

What manufacturer of computer? What model-number?
Is there a built-in network-adapter on the motherboard?
Is there an add-in network-adapter card?

If it is a USB modem, connect it to a different computer, and try it.
If it fails to connect, with _two_ different computers, then the problem is in the modem, not in your HP computer. Give that information to HP.

Or, switch to high-speed "lite" (as in "lite beer"), for about the same amount per month as for dial-up, and throw the modem away.

You probably need to install network adapter driver on your new hard drive.
Go to my computer properties, select "Device Manager" and see if there is a network adapter installed and working.

Not being able to connect to Internet still

  1. Check the wireless adapter of your laptop. To do that, go to control panel then go click on System then go to Device manager.
  2. On Device Manager window, look for Network adapter. Check all the Network adapters installed to your laptop.
  3. Look for the wireless adapter installed in your laptop. Once you found it, right click on it and then click properties.
  4. Under the general tab, look for Device status.
  5. Make sure that the wi-fi button of your laptop is enabled.
Hope this helps!

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.
