Last night my xr-10x-l worked fine
Shut down fine as I remember? . To day all I have IS A flashing red light. I pulled the bulb it looks ok checking it with a meter it shows open? Does this mean the bulb is bad?
Power light green the lamp light flashes green for awhile then goes red. Replaced the bulb same problem.
I unplugged it then held the power button on and plugged the power cord back in. it started working correctly, and shuts off and on ok now.

You can visibly inspect the lamp to make sure the bulb behind the glass is intact & the round part of the bulb is clear & round. Otherwise if possible return the lamp for exchange. If the same thing happens then the lamp ballast is likely bad. I have many in stock I can diagnose it.
first, make sure you have the correct lamp. the lamp for the xr-10x-l looks like the xr-10x, but the plugs are different (common mistake). make sure you have the AN-XR10L2/1, not the AN-XR10LP/1. to reset the lamp timer (with the projector plugged in but off), hold down the enter, down arrow, and menu buttons and press the power.
this is something which sharp didnt foresee!!!!!!!!!! sharp has two identical models sharp xr10x & the newer model xr10xl.both the lamps look alike , however both have a different rating & reverse connector!! i.e both cannot be interchanged!however if u have the old xr10x & if u try to fit the new bulb which is lower in wattage, it will explode in 20 mins if you have bought a used projector , then u wont know if someone has interchanged the ballast!! as this model was discontinued 2 years back!!!! so confirm the model , it is mentioned under sharp name or at the bottom good luck
I sent mine in. They changed the bulb and cleaned the unit. The one thing they did suggest that seemed helpful was to upgrade the firmware. They did this as part of the service. That may be your problem, but I don't know that the firmware is upgradable. Yes indeed, they do charge an outrageous price!! I went through Sharp because they would guarantee the work, and I didn't want to buy two bulbs.
when You changed the bulb you have to reset the bulb timer , that why the light is flashing red , look at your manual and reset the timer , and the picture , changed bulbs myself before i found what the problem was ,
