Question about Amana Refrigerators

1 Answer

At times my Amana refig,, mdl # ARG9058CS, makes a groaning sound from the freezer area. Today I opened the freezer drawer and to my amazement the sound stopped. I reached in and tripped the light switch and the sound resumed. The light seems to be functioning properly and nothing is loose to the touch. Comment?

My amana bottom freezer drawer keeps rusting over making it difficult to open and close. i have cleaned it several times and used various lubricants which work for a little while, then rusts up again.

It sounds like you are having a condensation problem. Is your freezer fully sealed? Is your refrigerator turning on and off and not staying on as it is supposed to? You can tell by putting an ice cube in the freezer and seeing if it melted, or melted and got frozen again.

My freezer drawers are very warm All food defrosted smells horrible even after cleaning. Should I clean condensor, temp is not cooling?

It is likely the condenser fan is not functioning, or the condenser is dirty. You may need to open the compressor access panel to check. If you can hear the compressor running, and the condenser feels warm, the fan should be running. If it isn't, it probably needs to be replaced. Another symptom is the area around the doors feels warm.

Amana side by side fridge makes a groaning noise when freezer is shut, no ice buildup nothing, just groans when light button is pushed

When light goes out, fan starts inside. Groaning sounds like the fan is hitting on something or has a dry bearing. Spray with wd40 on the shaft

The freezer area makes constant noises groaning whne door is closed, stops when door is opened

I'm going to say it's a bad bearing in the fan. It shuts off when the door is opened so as to waste as little coldness as possible.

Kenmore Elite Trio makes creaking/groaning sounds

I have a Kenmore Elite Trio and the freezer was making a frog sound. I found the solution.

My model number is 596.75523400. The sound will stop when the freezer is opened. It will stop again when the freezer drawer is open and the light switch is pressed to turn off the light. The ice drawer was full but it had stopped making ice.

Here is the fix in less than 10 minutes using only a screwdriver.
  • Take out the two freezer baskets
  • Remove the freezer door from the two slide tracks.
  • Unplug the icemaker electric connection at the back wall. Depress the clips on the side of the plug and wiggle it loose.
  • There are 3 screws that attach the icemaker to the left freezer wall. Remove the lower screw and unscrew the top two about ½ way out.
  • Slide the icemaker up so the slots slip over the 2 screws.
  • Put the icemaker in the sink and run a bit of water on the frozen cubes until they fall out.
  • Take the screwdriver and check the water inlet hose/pipe for ice that obstructs the flow of water into the ice maker.
  • Re-mount using the 3 screws and plug in the electric connector. Make certain the water inlet tube is positioned thru the retaining hole before you remount the screws.
  • Replace freezer door and baskets.

Frigidaire side by side suppose to be frost free

i do not have too much info but if you slam the door on your refig side it can cause the freezer to open air is the issue if there is a block of ice on the back wall of the freezer you have a defrost issue you either have have a bad bimetal or defrost control board issue the bimetal is located on the evaporator and the control board is in right hand corner of the refig near the damper area wher the cold air comes in from the freezer if you have cleared the ice out of freezer and you still have frost make sure your door gaset is sealing properly that can cause frost to help the freezer door from poping open make sure there is some weight in the freezer door fill the selfs up on the door itself and make sure the unit is as level as possible

Buzzing intermittent

most likely the compressor relay is the clicking noise but i think the problem is most likely the compressor is starting to go bad and is lcoking up. if the refig is under 5 yrs old it is most likely still in warranty by amana

Freezer door misalignment on ARB8057CSL

Before adjusting hinges you need to take a good look across the door from the side to make sure the door is not warped rather than the hinge misaligned. Cannot give much info on hinges but most do not give much adjustment and most can be accessed it is possible that one of the fixings is loose. The other possibility is that the seal is preventing the door from closing, although it does sound as though it is the top hinge not pulled towards the cabinet properly. Sorry to be vague. Hope this is of some help.
