SOURCE: Have small gas leak from oven burner oriface when oven is off.

The burner orifice you are referring to is part of the gas valve. You have two electrical connections on it, and the gas line to the valve comes from the pressure regulator.

Oven door opened and closed with flames, top burner explodes sometimes, knocking the top off my pot. Had a Tech look at it and he didn't find the problem, said to get rid of it, didn't find a gas leak

Your oven is a disaster waiting to happen. Have it replaced by a professional installer who can locate and correct the gas leak in the supply line or connections.

Why do I smell gas when the hoses are good?

That stove has sealed burners. It is not uncommon for folks to try and raise the top and when they do they break the lines on the front to the front sealed burners. To lift the top ya must twist each burner a quarter turn then get it out far enough to remove the screws which hold the burner tubing in place. Once them screws is removed you can lift and look for leaks. I have also seen places where the oven tubing bends get a small leak down to the oven valve. One more thang to look for is a dim ignitor. if it is dim and weak it might be allowing a tiny amount of gas to come out before ignition. Bubble test for leaks you must!!

The gas is connected on the rear side of the stove but the pilot light is not lit, nor will it light. trying to trouble shoot the problem before deciding to purchase a new oven/range. Also, I remember...

You may have a pilotless ignition.Check around door frames for model #plate.
Also , open broiler door ,turn on oven and look inside . If you see an orange glow appear after awhile, that is the electronic igniter and you have an electronic ignition(no pilot). In this case the top burners use a spark ignition system. If you don,t hear clicking when you turn on a burner your ignition module might be bad.
Easily fixed though.

I want to open the top of the stove because i have a leak. How do i remove the top?

If it is a sealed top, you will have to remove the cooking grates and center caps off the burners and set them aside. Unplug the stove. Each burner body has a numbers of screws holding it down to the top. Carefully remove the screws and unplug the ignition wire from each burner and set aside until all are free. Set them aside in an orderly fashion, so you know exactly which hole they go back to. The top is now free and should lift off with a little bit of effort. There are two fitted clamps in the front under the top, which will release the top with a snap, when you lift it up. You will not be able to completely remove the top, as it is still connected by wires in the back, so have someone hold it for you or prop it up to keep it out of your way. Use a soapy solution to check for leaks, which will bubble if a leak is found. Keep in mind, that you have removed the burners, so turning on the gas is pointless as it will just leak out the opening and make checking for leaks very difficult if not impossible. If you smell gas under the top, then you may have something visibly obvious, like a broken tubing or twisted and cracked tubing. If you can, without removing the top, you should be able to see the gas connection hooked up in the back, which is where you want to start checking for leaks before you even take the unit apart. Good luck.

Gas Range Oven Knob Area Gas Leak

The only two things you can do are pull the core of the oven thermostat and re-grease it, but that could throw your temperature calibration way off. The other is to replace the thermostat. Either way, a calibration is probably a good idea.

Stong gas smell ater oven lights. does not stop

you most likely have a gas leak in one of your connections or fittings. go to the hardware store and get a small bottle of gas leak detector. Test each fittinig and even along the pipe to find the leak. Once you have found the leak fix it by tightening the fitting, undoing the fitting and applying pipe dope, etc.

Replacing oven thermostat GE XL 44 (WGBS23WEA6WW)

i cannot look up the part diag. for the model you provided( no model exests), but for the most part, its a mater of unscrewing the burner heads fromthe maintop to allow yo to lift teh top further back, by lifting without uinscrewing them, you runn the chance of kinking/ loosing the gas fittings leading to them. In which case yooull wind up unscrewing htem anyway to repair the leak. As far as the capillary tube, it shoud push right through te opening in cavity where old one comes out

Frigidaire gas range

You could have a gas leak on one of the connections or a leaking safety valve. Mix some dishsoap, (dawn, etc) with water, 50/50. Soak the connections and fittings on the incoming line to the range. If You get bubbles you found the leak. Next find the orfice for the bake burner, take out the drawer and you should see the tube in the center. It will have an opening in the bottom where the orfice goes in. The orfice is brass, spray some soap bubbles on the brass orfice and see if it bubbles, if it does you need a new safety valve. Still no bubbles open the oven and look on the back wall of the cavity for the broil orfice ( if it has a broil burner). Hope that helps
