Question about Epson PowerLite 5550C Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Epson ELP 5500 projectors

I am having the same problem with several ELP 5500's. They will power up and project the video correctly, but after a time anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes they will shut off completely. When they shut off the fans and all lights go off at the same time, no cool down at all. They will start back up after a power cycle, but the same thing happens again.

I teach electronics and hope my students can fix these, but Epson will not help us with nay information, they just want us to send them in for service. You can write to me at techno.teach@gmail.com or call here at the school 586-825-2800 xt 17117.

Thank you, Dave

Hi technoteach

Will try and get my hands on a Service Manual for this model - in which you would find the circuit diagrams. This is a faulty Mainboard that is causing the problem.

Epson EMP 500 turning off

I believe that's an overheat problem. Check the fan if it's cooling properly. Make sure the unit is in a cool temp room.

Image otherwayround. How to put the image right to project from th front

Hello. I'm assuming your model is the *ELP* 732...In any case, bring up the menu in the display, then choose the "extended menu" option. Next choose "Projection" from the choices. Then choose front or rear, right side up or upside down...

Video adjustment on LCD projector

convergence on lcd is a tough issue... you can if you are really good and know what you are doing adjust the panels to correct some convergence issues. but depending on how many hours the unit has, the LCD panels may have warped due to the heat inside the projector, then corrections is pretty impossible.

Epson ELP 5500 projectors

the filter screens could be completly covered in dust, one teacher at my school uses one of our epson 83c's a lot and he called me down because it kept shutting off completley after a while.  I took a can of air and cleaned out the screen and put it back in and now it works fine again.  By the way, if they are throwing out any projectors out, let me know, I'd love to mess around with them to see if I can get them running again.  Thanks, hope this helps!

Epson ELP-3300 powers up bulb light is green but...

Ah ok , so it doesn't start up at all.

Is there any power at all on the unit , like LED's lighting up ?

If there is then it would be your Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) that need replacement.

If there isn't - then you should check on the Powersupply Board ( where your AC inlet sits in ) if the fuse is blown and if not , then you will have to replace the Powersupply Board.
