Not even two years old and we're having problems with the dishwasher stopping mid cycle. It doesn't stop every time we use it, but approx. 1 out of every 5 or 6. When it does stop the lights go out for about a minute and then go back on and the "start/resume" light blinks. You can start it right back up by pressing the start button again, but usually stops again shortly later. Takes many restarts to make it all the way through a cycle. Any ideas what the problem is?

I assume you mean it stopped in mid cycle and is now dead. If this is the case you will need to turn off the power to the dishwasher and remove the screws holding the front control panel There is a thermal fuse clipped to the front of the control panel Check it using an ohmmeter or continuity tester If it is open you will need to replace it with a kit containing the fuse and wire connectors Do not replace just the thermal fuse the problem will surely return. Also inspect the control board for burned areas. If the control board is burned you should replace the wiring harness with the control assembly
Rather than a problem with the latch sensor it just might be that something is preventing the door from fully closing properly. Check that there are no obstructions stuck on the door/frame seals and that the seals are in good order. Perished seals can prevent the door from closing evenly and this may cause the problems you are experiencing. Also check that the door itself is not warped or out of alignment, this will also cause such problems.
Try to feel the temperature of water inside the dishwasher. If it is normal room temperature for the hot wash cycles then it is likely the heater is faulty. It is not easy to replace unless you have good experience with repairing dishwashers.
If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:--- Water-heating cycleMany dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.TimerTimers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it. This will

Your problem is: You have looked in the manual under troubleshooting tips, but didn't find anything on the problem. The dishwasher goes into cycle, but during the wash cycle it stops, makes alarm and the wash and rinse ligts come on. And now you can't even find the product on this site.Westpoint Dishwasher WQP12-9240. Thankyou Your dishwasher is stopping at stage 2 of the programme after beeping once. Quite often the detergent flap doesn't open. Am at your wits end and threatening to leave home!!!! The machine is less than a year old. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thank you.
Don't leave just yet. It sounds like a control problem. The d/w should still be under warranty if it is less than one year old. Use it before it runs out. I don't recomend this type of repair for the average homeowner.

Try placing something like a chair with books or heavy objects on it in front of the door. Tip it with objects under the front legs and place objects on its seat until the pressure closes the door and the dishwasher starts. Put additional objects on the seat to insure vibration doesn't make the door pop open. If the cycle completes, the problem is probably the door switch. If not, the problem may be with the timer switch. If it's the timer switch the dishwasher will probably stop at the same position each time.
