Question about Thermador SGS36GS Gas Cooktop

2 Answers

I have a five year old 30 inch Thermador PHE Ventataion unit (VTN1000) above my dual fuel range. The blower comes on spontaneously and the lights for fast speed come on and blink, I have disconnected the blower but the lights are still on, intermittently. How do I gain access to the digital switch and is there a relay I need to replace or the whole switch? Thanks- Jerry

I will check it out- but I noted that no control function would work when the unit came on spontaneously. It had to be de-energized at the breaker. I agree in not re-attaching th ventilator unit and will investigate the loose wire issues- My main concern was in not making it worse. You have given me some good advice-Thanks Jerry

Hi,
You'll need to turn off the power and test each switch for continuity opened and closed to determine if this may be the cause and which part is causing problem. If you have ohm meter keep the end points check for the readings. If they don't show up any readings then that's the part you have to replace it
I would not rather prefer you to mess with it because you may loose the warranty because of it or if you have good hands on
it you can go with it replace it.Digital switch alone can be replaced if it is the defective one no need to go for whole switch.

Part no is 14-AP2832189
You can get it in the service center.
You can gain access behind back side of the front end..

post a comment for further assistance.

Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Ventilation units usually come with sensors at times which trigger the blower and also trigger the light to come on intermittently.
Although if you are absolutely sure that there is nothing for the blower to extract then disconnecting it is safe but if otherwise do connect the blower back.
Blinking light usually indicate a warning this could either be a malfunction in the unit or an improper wiring diorder which might have just come up on the unit.
To determine if you have to replace a relay or the whole switch board can only be determined after careful examination of the unit. Try to get an axpert to take a look at the unit.
Also endeavour to be careful as severe accidents could occur as a result of poor maintenance of these appliances.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I continue to get code F11 on my Kenmore Elite Gas Range Oven and therefore, I am unable to unlock / open my oven door. I have pressed and held down the STOP button as well as the oven light button.

Your model number should be much longer than 790 30 Open drawers and doors to look for the whole model number around the frame.

With the whole model number you can get more information at Sears Parts Direct. There are parts diagrams and user manuals and you can order parts.

This site gives instructions for repairing F11 and recommends checking the temperature probe and tells how to do it.

Use a manometer to insure lp gas pressure is correct. The regulator for the stove may need adjusting. The air mixture adjustment may not be correct for PL as well.

HOW TO CALIBRATE OVEN TEMPERATURE INDICATOR AND THE OVEN TEMPERATURE ON THERMADOR PRD304EG RANGE

If you remove the knob, you will see the very center of the male part the know attaches to has a small flat head screw in the middle of it. Buy turning this screw in and out, you are micro adjusting the temp when the oven cycles on and off. Its best to have a digital thermometer set up within the oven so you can see exactly when the oven cycles on and off. It's going to fluctuate about 20-30 degrees. So set your oven to 350, let it turn on and watch carefully when the red light shuts off it should be between within 30 degrees from where you set it, up or down. If its too low, turn in( could be out, I forgot) the screw in the center of that know with a mini flat head screw driver. If you turn it and the light goes back on, you turned it up. If it does not go on in an quarter turn, you went lower. Once your digital thermometer matches up closely whith what your oven says, your good. 25 degrees isn't much to be gentile whith turning that middle screw, you could miss your mark and be off even more very easealy.

Main oven does not heat at all

Sounds like the heating/starter element went out. This item is very delicate and will break if touched. They are used on almost all newer gas appliances. It takes about 3 minutes to check. Turn the oven on and look down near the burners with all of the lights in the room out. You should see a glow for a while, then it will click off for a while and then come back on. If not, then turn off the oven and get a flashlight and look for the starter element to see if it is broken. It is about one inch wide, two inches long, and 1/4 inch thick. If you do get a glow then this is good news, the element is not broken. However, the element operates a thermostatic switch which operates the gas valve. This switch may be broken. The switch and the starter element usually come out together when removed.

I have a Wolf gourmet 30" stove. it's about 10

Interesting, I'm looking for a solution to a similar issue. Our new (7 month old) 30'' Wolf Range has this issue. When both front burners are light, the back burner's electronic starter begins to click, but only when you put a pan on the front left burner. I believe the iron/steel in the pan is causing a magnetic field thats starting the rear burner to go off.. just don't know.. will report back after the repair person comes.

2 burners wont ignite

Hello there:
A burner doesn't work The most common problem for gas surface burners is that they get gas but don't light. This is generally caused by dirt or grease splatters on the burner itself. Residential-grade range/stove burners are round and have small holes around their perimeter to allow gas to flow out and create a round flame. The gas coming from these holes is often ignited by a small vertical row of holes on the side of the burner. If these vertical holes are clogged or obstructed, the gas can't ignite. The solution is to clean the burners thoroughly. Use a toothpick to clear the small vertical holes, then allow the burner to dry completely and try lighting it again. If it doesn't light immediately, either repeat the procedure or call a qualified appliance repair technician.
