Question about Multimedia Projectors
My school district has a number of these ELP 5500s and they seem to be delelvoping the same problem. They will run normally for a few miinutes, ranging from 2 to 30 and then will shut off completely. No fans, no lights, nothing at all. The power must be cycled with the main switch and then it will start up again immediately and do the same thing in about the same time.
I teach electronics and they have asked my class to look into these. They will throw them out if we can't fix them. The first one had a fan making horrible noises so we tore it apart and yanked the fans to find replacements. Before we could find new ones they brought us another doing the exact same thing, but the fans all seem to be working fine.
Any help here would be greatly appraciated, you can write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Dave henderson at 586-825-2800 xt 17117.

The filter screens could be completly covered in dust, one teacher at my school uses one of our epson 83c's a lot and he called me down because it kept shutting off completley after a while. I took a can of air and cleaned out the screen and put it back in and now it works fine again. By the way, if they are throwing out any projectors out, let me know, I'd love to mess around with them to see if I can get them running again. Thanks, hope this helps!
