Try unplugging the power cord for an extended period; an hour or two.
This is almost certainly a switching type supply and it may have gotten warm and just stopped.

If you have the optional battery pack or car adaptor, try these.
If you don't, you are kind of stuck unless you have a simple multimeter (why not? Digitals from China are dirt cheap).
If you have one available, you can check at the cable end that plugs into the printer for some kind of voltage output.
Because the supply may have a messy voltage output that is cleaned up and regulated inside the printer, you may not get a stable reading but it should have a strong DC voltage component.

I suspect the power supply has failed and they are generally not repairable unless you have have the skills and equipment to test them and the case is not too tough to open.

that is in the printer settings when printing a document or photo if the original is larger or smaller, then you need to select that size from the printer settings panel when trying to print.

I have a HP Photosmart 475 now 6 years old no longer supported by HP The blue ink from the cartridge has leaked and I get very blue photos I have been told by Jessops I probably need a new print head. is...

The print haed is held in position with a locking lever and the ink cartridges are clipped into the printhead.
Yes you can purchase a new print head BUT the cost of a print head is expensive. I suggest you put your money towards a new and better printer, it may not cost mush more that a new printhead if you can get one.

HP PHOTOSMART 475 WILL NOT SWITCH ON WHEN PLUGED IN

hmmm...ok..unplug from computer first

then with power switch/button depressed, AND power cable out of wall, plug it into the wall, hold button for 30 seconds..

if that's not ok, then make certain the light on your power input is good. We're assuming the power is good from outlet, right?

HP Photosmart 475 printer

The rollers should be in front of the printer. I have never opened one of these before but have worked on a Kodak. Try using a flat screwdriver with a cloth wrapped around it to clean the rollers. Just be careful not to damage the rollers with the sharp end of the screwdriver.
