Question about MSI 845 Ultra-C Motherboard

1 Answer

I have a MSI MS-6566 Ultra-C v1 with an Intel 2.6MHz CPU. The board is getting power and the CPU fan is running along with the fan on the AGP video card, but the CMOS will not post. The PSU tests fine. I have tried to see if it would post with no memory, video card or HD and with and still no beep. Any ideas of what to try next? Thanks.

MSI 845GVM-V (MS-7057-010) Motherboard cpu fan not ruuning but smps is ok when jpw1 is disconnected then fan is running but mother board is not on

Hello hare is the homepage:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/845GVM-V.html#/?div=Manual

Try to download the manual, and check all your connections again.

Try also to renew the power supply.

Check also this site:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-13-perform-steps-posting-boot-video-problems

The jpw1 is the main power connection for power to the cpu:
So you probably have a bad power supply.

Good luck

Hi i have ms 6714 mother board how to know its 040 or 020

1) The Micro Star International MS-6714-020 motherboard uses an Intel 845GV motherboard chipset.

Underneath the Heatsink on the Northbridge chip is the part number Intel 82845GV.
On the Southbridge chip the part number is Intel 82801DB. (ICH4)

2) The MSI MS-6714-040 motherboard use an Intel 845GE motherboard chipset.

Underneath the aluminum ribbed Heatsink on the Northbridge chipset is the part number Intel 82845GE.
On the Southbridge chip the part number is Intel 82801DB. (ICH4)

List of Intel Chipsets, and specifically the one's for the Pentium 4's,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

How to know the difference without knowing what part number is on the Northbridge chip?
Easy.

The Intel 845GE supports Integrated Graphics, and AGP (AGP 4X)

There is an AGP expansion slot on the motherboard for using an AGP graphics card.

The Intel 845GV supports Integrated Graphics only.

There is No AGP expansion slot.
Just the three white PCI expansion slots.

I am working on a KT3 Ultra CE MS-6380E ver.1 mother board. The original problem was that nothing run after I pushed the power switch. I thought the Power Supply went out so I replaced the power supply but...

Sounds like the board or processor has failed. You will have checked all the power connectors to the board? Usual fix is a new board, rather than trying to find which component on the board has failed.

When it gets slow, start the Windows Task Manager.
Click the "Performance" tab.
Check what percentage of the CPU--power is being used.
Check what percentage of the RAM is being used.

Click the "Processes" tab.
Click the 'CPU' column-heading *TWICE* to sort the processes,
so that the "big" users of CPU are listed at the top.

Scan for computer-viruses.

I have a MS-6566 motherboard and when I turn on the computer, the CPU fan starts but it will not boot. No display and I don't even get a BIOS beep. I have tried 2 different CPUs and 2 different memory...

Ma board probs can be quite tricky. i would bet there is a jumper that is not set right to your configuration. or fell off in shipping. download the boards manual from manufacters website and check all the jumpers, aka them lil plastic squares that dot the board in different places. if they are set right with your components then the board is bad.

Whether supports DDR?

Hi valentin122, you're board does not support PC2700 memory.
The link below will take you to you're board,
MSI 845 UltraC (MS 6566). Suggest you add to you're favorites.
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=845_Ultra-C

There is not a bios upgrade to support PC2700 memory.
Bios link.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=295

You're manual is here.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=3466&type=manual

See page 2-5 in you're manual.
The mainboard provides 2 slots for 184-pin, 2.5V unbuffered DDR DIMM with 4 memory banks. You can install PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DDR 1~2).
To operate properly, at least one DIMM must be installed.
Here is a link for you're memory. To reach you max GB, you would need 2 DIMMS.

Good Luck!
