Static electric shocks

This occurs when the air is dry. The vacuum builds up a static charge when running. If you touch something metallic, you will get shocked. To dissipate the charge on your body, run your hand along a wall - it helps to reduce the shocks.

Why wont the brushes spin?

Most likely, the belt is broken. I'll bet the roller is covered with hair, thread, string. If brush roller is not routinely cleaned, string, hair becomes rapped around it and makes it more difficult for the belt to turn it. Eventually, the increase in friction and heat weakens the belt and the belt either breaks or stretches out. Try cleaning the rollers and replacing the belt.

Why wont the brushes spin on vacuum cleaner?

First, check to make sure that the roller is not hindered by a pulled string such from a carpet. Next check the BELT that drives the pulley. If the belt spins a little bit as if the electric motor is working and the belt is not broken, check the belt to see glazing. If it is glazed, it is not getting enough friction to spin the belt. Replace belt as needed.

Keep getting an electrical shock when using iron. is it possible to replace cables??????

It sounds like there is a bear wire inside the iron touching the case causing the shock. You have to take the iron apart and look for wires with cracked insulation and replace them or wrap electrical tape around the bear part.

Is it worth trying to fix the end of the power cord that goes in the wall outlet? One of the metal prongs broke.

You can buy just the end at the local hardware store. This is the best way to fix it. It is also the safest way to do it and not risk electric shock.

When running the 2100 Electrolux vacuum, it is stopping and starting when pulling or pushing the floor attachment. Seems like the connection at the top of the handle is a little loose or the electric tabs...

Depending on the age of your 2100, you will need to replace, the wand cord, the handle wiring and perhaps theh upper wand inner tube and handle as well.
If you examine your cord contacts they will be blackened from slippage, so will the female socket they plug into. On and aging 2100 the 1/2 inch groove at the front of the chrome handle tube begins to wear and the metal inner tube clip under the thumb button of the wand develops play back and forth. The wand comes apart into 4 pieces, plastic sheath, upper and lower tubes and cord assy.
If the hose handle groove is worn enough to allow in and out play, you will need to replace the handle, it's wiring, and at least the clip button on the upper wand as well as the wand cord.
You will find these wand parts at a pro vacuum shop but if your hose is original you will need to go to an AERUS Electrolux repair center for parts.
Post back with your results.

My kenmore centtral vac runs but does not ****. HELP11

#1 i assume u checked the bag and filter if so equipped?
#2 verify the hose is not plugged
#3 verify hard plumbing not plugged by taking something metal (quarter) and crossing the 2 little metal nubs at inlet (don't worry it is low voltage u wll not get shocked) it should ****
#4 if hard line plugged you may need a second vacuum to reverse flow
are all outlets not creating suction f so detach vacuum from piping and verify that vacuum is not the problem

Model 116 hose clog?
Posted by rfrazelle on Jun 23, 2008
My old canister model 116 followed with numbers 2839580 marked Kenmore 3.9 with power-mate, worked fine until the bag got overly full. I have changed the bag, cleaned the filter, and removed a nasty hair/fur/dust clog :-p from the lower metal tube of the power mate. It now has very weak suction and won't pick up anything. I suspect a clog in the grey plastic flexible tubing attached to the canister but cannot get it apart. Advice?
RJ

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Kenmore 22313 Bagged Canister Vacuum. The best way to find a clog in an electric hose is to use a steel ball or a large marble to place inside the hose and to let it so threw as far as it can to determine where the hose clog is. Once you have determined where the hose clog is then you can use a small end of a broom handle of take an old wire coat hanger and place a hook on the end and try to pull the clog out of the electric hose – the electric hose is very expensive so try not to damage the hose in any way, shape or form. Or another way is that id you have another canister vacuum you can try to pull the clog apart by using two vacuums turned on and running. If you are successful then run the round marble or steel ball thru the hose again and the clog should be cleared.
