I have a Kenmore 500 top load washer that doesn't hold water. As it is filling for the wash cycle all the water runs down the drain

The drain hose outlet must be higher than the 'full' water level in the tub or the water will syphon out until the tub water equals the hose height. If the drain system you are using for the washer is floor level, then you need to install a vertical pipe (1-1/2" minimum) to place the hose end into at the top and it should eject the water through a 90 degree elbow onto the floor at the bottom. There are more elegant solutions, but this will stop the tub from self-draining. Good luck!

Several possible causes of a top load washer not fully draining.
a.) Kinked or obstructed drain hose
b.) New drain outlet is too high and the pump is not powerful enough to fully drain the washer
c.) Failing pump motor, that does not fully drain the washer.

Washer will not fill up!

The water is siphoning out as it fills. Your drain hose is too low or has a air block. Remove the drain hose from the drain. Set the washer to fill. Hold the drain hose up higher than the washer. If it fills correctly and starts agitating, correct the drain hose problem.

Kenmoore washer , model 2262210 serial cl4434210, type111 . will not spin and does not drain . what are the possible problems . please help . thanks . T.W.N. at tednicol@msn.com

if this is a traditional top load washer, then your lid switch might be bad. Usually when this happens, your washer will start fine. Your put it for a normal wash, it does its thing, lets in water, and agitate and stuff, but when it goes to the spin cycle. it stays in that cycle and wont advance. Leaving you with a tub full of water. Like i said if its a traditional top load kenmore, the lid switch is the the gray looking part when you open your lid. when you open your lid, youll see two screws holding it. But you have to take the whole shell of the waher to get to it....take 2 screws on the back corners of the counsel, then flip the counsel up. Locate to metal clips and pop them put with screwdriver. unclip the lid switch connector located by the clear hose that runs down. then lift and pull the whole shell towards your and acess the switch from underneath. put back together how you took it apart.( MAKE SURE THE CLEAR HOSE THAT RUNS FROM THE TOP COUNSEL TO THE TUB DONT GET PINCHED BECAUSE YOUR WASHER WILL OVERFLOW WITH WATER) like i said if its a tradidonal top load kenmore....hope this helps

Kenmore 24732 will fill and drain but will not agitate or spin

HI, Even tho it drains ok, does it spin? If it doesn't spin or agitate, it could be the coupler that attachec the transmission to the motor. The agitator is ok, it is designed to work that way. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks

I can always see water clear up to the bottom rim of my washer(door) after a load is finished. I had a technician out & he said some water always stays in the washer. It has become so bad that I have to...

First turn off and remove the outlet hose from the drain. Because the machine has water in it - it will be heavy to move. Lower the hose into a bowl to drain it.

Check to see that the hose is not full of debris / grease.
If it does seem bad, replace it in the outlet again, and use a cup of soda crystals in the machine - wash it on a hot cycle and see if it clears things.
There should also be a plastic hose support at the top of the outlet to stop the hose from kinking. Often it is missing and over time causes this problem.

Please post back if it does not improve before rating, as there are other causes too.

Why does my washing machine have 2 drain outlets?

This is a water saver or previously known as a suds saver model. The bottom one is the drain. The top one would go to a suds tub. If you set the machine on save, the wash water is pumped out of the top hose into the holding sink next to the washer. The rinse water goes out the bottom hose to the drain. The next cycle you could set the washer to the very beginning of the main wash cycle and the washer would pump the water from the tub back into the washer to be used as wash water for the second load of laundry. Yea, used water. But the first load would be lightly soiled stuff, and the next load would be old barn clothes or play clothes. It was designed to save water (about 65 gallons used for 2 loads vs. 90 gallons) and soap. (now, front load machines with larger tubs would use as little as 25 gallons for two loads.) Just hook up the bottom hose to the drain. Leave the save / drain switch set to drain and you'll be fine. To be extra safe (in case the switch was accidentally set to save) disconnect the wires at the solenoid where the drain hose splits into two at the back bottom of the washer. (right where the hoses exit the machine.)
