Most air conditioners have a low pressure (and high pressure) cutout switch. What this means is that when there is too little (or too much) freon in the system the switch will cut off the compressor saving it from damage and only the fan will be running. After a few minutes when the pressure equalizes the compressor will kick back in and the whole process just keep repeating over and over. I suspect you have a freon leak somewhere dropping the pressure in the system. Honestly I don't know if you particular AC is user serviceable where you can add freon yourself. If so, you can purchase a can of freon, they now come with the gauge attached so you can tell immediately if it is a low or high pressure situation, and some of the brands of freon have leak stop additives as well as compressor oil. Just make sure you purchase the proper type of freon, there are two main types, the older is r12 and the newer type is r134-a. it should say somewhere on the inside cover or on the compressor itself which type is required. Otherwise if you don't want to go through the trouble a reputable AC service professional should be able to tell you exactly what is wrong after connecting the gauges and they even have leak detector material to help them find the leak. Shop around, I bet it will be not much to repair and certainly cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

The most common cause of this problem is that the drivers seat heater grid is open or burned out. That is based on 25 years as a Ford dealer technician.

Auto/On set to ON. Fan runs.

Sounds like the thermostat, the way to verify is to unplug indoor unit, remove thermostat, take pic of wiring with phone or label the wires as to the terminals. Carefully twist the yellow,(Y) Red (R) and the green (G) together. Plug the furnace back in, if the unit operates normally, replace the thermostat. I am basing this on the fact that the blower speed is changing. This could also be an anomaly within the circuit board in the furnace section, not likely though as the outside unit (condenser) is not controlled n by the indoor board unless this is a heat pump. hope this helps. When I turn my window unit on, it will cool for 2 - 3 minutes. Then the fan turns off and the compressor continues to run for maybe another 90 seconds, then shuts off.

Make sure the filters are clean. Check what mode it is on as well. On heating, it is normal for there to be a delay before the unit starts up and then "run on" when turned off. Also check what temperature is set on it. If the temp is too high, the machine will cycle on and off as it thinks it has already reached the temp you want.

The system blows cold air when turned to on position but also makes that sound between cycles

NOTE THE ON / AUTO SWITCH BETWEEN GREEN,FAN AND YELLOW ,COOL TERMINALS ON THE THERMOSTAT,
THE FAN SWITCH NORMALLY CLOSED GOES TO LOW, HEAT SPEED, WHILE THE NORMALLY OPEN GOES TO THE HIGH SPEED, COLING SPEED.
BY TURNING FAN ON NOTHING BUT FAN SHOULD RUN..

SWITCHING THE BREAKER TO OFF PRECLUDES THE UNIT FROM DOING ANYTHING !

I switch the breaker to the off position when not using the a/c in order to keep this cycle from occurring. A

The lamona wine Cooler fan keeps kicking in every 10 seconds. Is this normal operation. The refrigeration unit works and kicks in every now and then as you would expect.?

I have just had one of these installed. I have exactly the same issue. I called the helpdesk and the woman said this should not happen and set up an appointment with an engineer. The engineer told my wife that this was normal and that all was OK.. I do not tghink it is operating properly as the fan keeps coming on 2-3 times every minute.

Fan doesn't run while in idle and begins to over heat until I start driving agin then it cools back down to normal. Also the fan runs when engine is off and drains the battery.

The fan is only supposed to come on when there is excess heat .. in normal driving conditions it doesn't start. When you start your car in the morning the fan won't come on because the engine is cold.

With a hot engine - and it depends how hot the engine is - the fan will only kick in to prevent overheating. In heavy slow moving traffic or a traffic jam, the fan will kick in if needed.

The air flow through the radiator is usually sufficient -in normal driving conditions - to cool the engine.

When you park up and the car has a hot engine, the fan will kick in. This is perfectly normal. It is caused by a surge of hot coolant triggering the fan sensor. Perfectly normal.

The fan then should cut out after a while .. maybe 2-3 minutes at the most. If the fan runs continuously that suggests a fault in the temperature sensor switch.

Next time - wait by the car and see how long it takes for the fan to quit after you have parked up. It should stop of its own accord after a couple of minutes.

If the fan cuts off after a short while, and your battery is becoming drained, that's probably a battery or alternator fault.

Remember: when you start the car the fan won't kick in at idle speed because the engine is COLD, and there is no reason for the fan to start up ..
The fan WILL kick in for a couple of minutes after you have parked the vehicle and the engine is hot

RV A/C blower not working and keeps kicking out

If blower not working, and yoou hear a slight "Hum" with fan only on, try this. With power off to AC. Go up on roof, and slide a stick through opening on side near rear, and try to get to fan blades at rear of unit. try to spin the blades a few times, even if it only goes a little at a time. Unless you want to take all those screws out & remove cover to get at it better, but watch for wasps under there. Give fan a couple of full rotations, then have someone turn it on to fan only & see what happens. If fan finally works, let it run for a few minutes on fan, then try cool & see if it all comes together again. Let me know.

Air conditioner fan will not come on and unit will run for 1 minute and stop

You hear the compressor kick in (Hum) but no fan comes on? Will the fan come on when just in fan mode, not cool, or do you have that set-up?

DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.
