Alright, so you have WSOD [white screen of death].
If you have warranty contact Sony and they will repair the phone for you.

I'll get back to you with more later.

Good luck,.

Open up the back of the phone and take out the battery while the phone is still on. this is called a "hard shock" and that usually fixes the problem.

Here is another solution I found on a different forum:
"If a consumer experiences a white screen on their W600i after executing a music download through the USB port on a computer the W600i may still recover. The W600i has a USB file recovery capability where the W600i checks its USB file system for errors and corrects those errors. The consumer should be told to allow the allow the W600i to remain "powered-on" for approximately 30 minutes to give the W600i the opportunity to execute the USB file recovery and return to normal operation. If the W600i does not return to normal operation after this 30-minute period, there is a problem that is not recoverable and may require warranty exchange."

just let it sit for a while with the battery out and be patient. Put it
back in after a minute or two and let it start up. It will go to the
white screen but don't lose hope. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes and it
should work fine. It is very frustrating but it is solvable.

    Method 2:

    1. Go to THIS site. Now download and install the client and USB flash driver (from the download section on the top right side)

    2. Run the .exe file to start client

    3. Remove your phone's battery and put back in. Then hold down the 2 and 5
buttons on your keypad. Connect the phone to the USB cable.

    4. You might get some prompts to install the flash driver, just click the install automatically options.

    5. In the server, click the start button and hopefully you'll see some info and data shown to the left.

    6. Do as the server says, remove the battery and let the phone sit for a few minutes and then put battery in. Hopefully this should resolve the issue.
    Hope that helps!

This is called the WSOD or white screen of death.

Power cycling involves removing your battery (and SIM, if you so desire) from the phone, while it is powered on. Keep them removed from the phone for at least 10 seconds. You may want to try it for 10 minutes to help guarantee that it may work.

Replace the SIM and battery, and power on the phone. Once powered on, let it sit for approximately one minute (so as to fully load, connect to the towers, etc.) before using your phone.

If this doesn't work, you will have to take it in and most likely need to replace it.

Let me know how this goes and good luck.

As I said, this is very common and the only thing to really do is return it if my above options don't work because there is no other way to fix it. The manufacturer will just tell you to return it too.

I'm sorry but that is the way that it is.

Hello maddog

If you don't hear a startup sound or similiar
then most likely there is a fault in the mainboard or lcd.

There is hardly noting you can do personally I would take the phone to your dealer or a local professional for analysis

a white screen cant be caused by battery. Its either a software corruption or a hardware fault, very hard to say from here what exactly is wrong but a tech can test the phone and see whats wrong with it.

This "White Screen of Death" is a common problem with these phones, especially those with Cingular (AT&T) service.

Updating the phone's firmware is the best chance of fixing the problem and repairing the phone.

Download and install the Sony Ericsson Update Service on your PC, and follow the instructions to update your phone.

You can also try the wotanserver fix on your phone, but it is not an official Sony Ericsson method.

You need the code PUK (PIN Unlocking Key). You have to call your operator to obtain it.
