Question about MotorGuide Standard Motor Replacement Parts - Type: Switches And Compone

Open Question

I have a model T52 MotorGuide trolling motor and It just stopped working. I took off the top cover and I noticed the large black and red wire had got hot and melted the insulation on it and the yellow wire it cossed over on. I repaired both wires but still won't work. Anything I can try? HELP Thanks Ron

SOURCE: wanting to install motorguide 24v trolling motor

I have installed a selectable 12/24 volt trolling motor on my boat. When in the 24 volt mode, the motor works well for about 3-4 minutes the loses all power. After about a 15-20 minute "cooling off period" the motor will work again for about 3-4 minutes. In the 12 volt mode, the motor works well all the time, only at about half the speed of the 24 volt mode. Why is my motor losing all power in the 24 volt mode?

SOURCE: On my standard motorguide trolling motor the

put the motor in the water and ensure that the propeller is at the rear. On the head of the unit (where the direction indicator is) push down and turn the round plastic plate (this plate has the direction indicator on it) clockwise until the direction indicator mark (mine is blue and is about one inch long) is in line with the alignment bar on the non-moveable part on the head. You will hear several "clicks" and this means that the indicator plate is clicking around to the proper directional alignment with the motor in the water.

SOURCE: I have a motorguide trolling motor and the front

With the top off take the six screws out and lift the cable and gear out. Next put your foot pedal at mid position. Then make sure the motor is pointed forward and reinstall the slider gear and the six screws. Last put the top on and make sure the arrow indicator is pointing forward and thats it.

I bought a used trolling motor (motorguide brute 750 50# thrust) it has a 12-24 volt selector switch and three wires to hook up to battery, a black, a white, and a red. i'm assuming on 12v setting of...

the black wire goes to - and the red goes to + for 12 volts. If you want 24 volts you need to add another battery and run a jumper wire from the - of the first battery to the + of the second battery and hook the white wire to the - of the second battery. Here is a picture to help you.
