Question about Toshiba 55H70 55" Rear Projection Television
When I turn on the television, the image is extremely wavy (horizontally) and had bright white streaks flaring more or less vertiaccly. Over the next ten minutes it gradually improves until the image is fine - as good as ever.
Is this fixable? Or is my set dying? It is about five years old but I would like to get another year or two out of it.
Ok Good new it is fixable...bad new not cheap. what has happen is that on a cuircit board known as the "hypermodule" there are some capcitors that have failed...these are very small capacitors known a surface mounts. toshiba has a bulletin on this and they will need replaced... these are difficult to replace even for a technician. ideally it would be better to replace the module but these are hard to find. typical repair for my shop runs about 450 to replace the caps...delecate work ..the board can be damaged. and like i said not replacable...
