Hello

OK, the camera should either give you an error message, or, if you switch on the camera and the lens does not move.

If you are able to take a photo, your lens is still working.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards
Andrea

Sony cybershot camera fell and lens is stuck

The lens may be out of position, or there could be dirt/dust in the lens mechanism. You could try some of the following suggestions:

1: Switch on the camera while you hold the shutter button and connect it to the AC adapter or to the USB cable at the same time.
2: Now by default the lens should get properly aligned if not try to twist them slightly by holding down the camera lens with soft hands.
3: Just push and pull the lens slightly as it extends automatically.
4: Now when the lens is in the hard surface power on your camera.
5: Try to hit the camera softly beside the lens which might solve the issue.

Does riding my wheelchair on carpet wear the battery quicker?

That question has a yes and no answer. If the carpet does not create alot of resistance then probably not. The best way to describe what I am saying is if you can roll something that has small wheels like a microwave stand across the floor with a small amount of effort then your wheelchair isnt working too hard to move across that carpeted floor. If the carpeted floor is real soft and cushioned under your feet your chair will have to work a little harder. Any time you are not rolling on a hard surface your chair will have to work a little harder than it would on the harder surface.

Harddrive not working

the ps3 hard drive might not work due to the presence of a virus that is corrupting the system or preventing it from reading the hard drive.
also,
if the console fell down or hit the floor or hard surface recently or sometime back, this could cause it.
it is most likely that the hard drive has moved out of place and as a result it cannot be read by the console.
the best thing to do if the system cannot even detect the hard drive is to pull it out(read manual of the game on how to do this) and see if there are any dents or unusual markings on the hard drive.
if there are no visible causes as to what could be causing it, it is best advised you contact sony or your local electronics shop and see what can be done as this is a very unusual case.
hope this helped you?

Unit fell on the floor and now gets stuck while "Reading Disk .." after hitting play. Can hear the mechanism start and stop continually but never gets past the reading disk stage. Perhaps...

1. Open unit as if you were loading a disc.
2. Locate laser lens and sliding lens assy.
3. Take a non-conductive material (wood, plastic) and try moving the laser assy. along the track.
NOTE: you may have to be a bit heavy-handed to make the laser assy. move.
4. Move it in one direction but only far enough to free the jammed laser mechanism
5. Reinstall a DVD and press "play"

A fall to the floor is really serious. There is probably more damage than just the hard drive. A fall to a hard surface is like a bomb going off for a hard drive...

My camera lens isn't working, how can I reset it?

it sounds like there is dirt, dust or something else in the lens mechanism. I'm assuming you don't want to take the camera to a repair shop. I've had several cameras and this issue comes up periodically.

You can try:

1. using compressed air (with as thin a nozzle as you can find) to blow out the dust,
2. try powering on the camera and zooming the lens at the same time, 3. gently knocking the camera on a hard surface to loosen the lens mechanism,
4. manually forcing the lens to go back in. This can potentially damage the camera, but it's not working now, so you don't have a lot to lose.
5. Googling the camera model to see if you can find instructions on opening the camera up to clean the lens mechanism.

Sony Cyber-shot Error Code E:61:00

Hi,

you may have these symptoms,
Symptoms :
  1. After pressing the power button in capture mode, the lens would extend and a slight humming from what appeared to be the auto focus motor could be heard for about 5 seconds. When the motor stopped humming, the camera would beep and display E:61:00 in the LCD Screen.
  2. Camera would extend the lens but not be able to focus on anything past 8 inches or so.
  3. Zoom in and zoom out would not work.
  4. Playback mode and the Setup mode was not affected.

To fix this problem,

Do these...

A) Put the camera about a half inch from a hard surface.
B) Let the lense go out and hit the surface and retract a little bit. Let it go out all the way when it tries the next time.

If that doesnt fix it, try this:
A) Turn it on and let the lense go out fully
B) See where the lens comes out of the camera? The little round crack that surrounds it? Wiggle the lense a bit and blow in there a bit. (Be sure not to blow on the lense!)

Now turn it off/on again, and it should be fixed!

If not, try these steps a few more times. If still nothing, then I suggest you to call Sony, but this DID work for 90%, so hopefully it''ll work for you :)

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Nikon d40 fully damaged?

My standard response: Contact Nikon USA (if you're in the US) and ship them the camera and lens. This will cost, which they will estimate up-front, but it is the absolutely best solution to the problem. Anything else is a hack job!
