Find the make and model of your spa pak and google it.
They should have all error codes, with some trouble shooting guides.

KD-R411. How do I get it out of protect mode?

Try a reset: remove the faceplate, then look for a small recessed button on the front panel that you can press with a paper clip or pen tip. If that doesn't solve the problem, you'll have to find and fix the condition that's triggering the protect mode. This usually means a shorted speaker wire or a defective speaker.

What does protect mode mean

If the radio is in protect it usually means you have a short or ground in the speakers or speaker wires. Sometimes you can reset the radio and it will go away. If all of your speakers and speaker wires check out and it remains in protect after resetting (you can reset it either by pressing the reset button if there is one {it should be a pencil tip sized depression somewhere on the face or a small hole with a switch behind it on the subpanel behind the face, or by disconnecting power to the radio.} then you more than likely have a bad output ic.

Here's the owners manual for the cd5000
http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/manuals/manual_pdf/CD5000(2-2951A).pdf

I cannot find ADV in the manual... but it talks about an "Advanced Mode" in a number of places where different sound options are accessible. Perhaps that is the reason for the ADV... you're in Advanced Mode.
It suggests that you can change from "normal mode" to "advanced mode" and vice versa when your volume level is set to 0

I hope that helps with your issue.

I got a Kenwood KDC-MP438U and its stuck on protected mode

Protected mode means that there is a speaker wire that is grounding out on the chassis, another wire or another wire. Check all the wire connections to make sure there is no loose wire that may be getting grounded out. After it's insulated properly and reconnected, hit the reset and you'll be back in business. k

Auxillery in question

yes you can hook up your mp3 to an aux input on a stereo not sure what you mean by converter typically it is done through a 3.5mm - 3.5mm standard audio cable. and in order to do this your reciever must have an aux input of course and if so then you can toggle the mode of input by pressing the Mode or button that switches from radio to cd etc or consult with your users manual to find out how to switch and if aux input method is supported
