Hi!!
On the side of this unit - under Window XP label - there is a SERVICE TAG for EACH unit - use this number to fill in the box of:
http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx

then chose audio driver you need.

Good luck !!!!

From the control panel - system, is the sound card still there? If so, delete it and than under action tab, scan for changes. This will reinstall the sound card with the orginal driver.

If you go to the makers web-site for your sound card, you might be able to download the driver there.

I lost audio or sound on my 3 years old computer,i installed a new sound card, and the wizard wont find the hard ware. please help. Thanks

You need to install the driver for the new audio card. It should be on a CD that came with the new sound card. If you did install the driver from the CD then it may be too old and not functioning properly with either your OS or other hardware drivers that are newer.
You need to get a newer audio driver for this hardware device. You need to figure out who makes the audio card you bought (it should be on both the card itself and the box it came in). Browse to the website of the maker of this card, and go to their support/downloads section. You will need to enter in your model number and then you can download the newest version of the hardware driver. Download this driver and install it on your computer. You will be prompted to restart your computer, you need to do this to get your sound working.
Your speakers will now work!

1. I reinstalled Windows XP from restoration CD, now icons and fonts are in large sizes and there is no sound.

Sounds like a driver problem. You will have been provided a CD with your computer, perhaps the same one you restored Windows XP from, with all of the drivers that were installed on your computer out of the box. If you install all of the drivers on there, the sound and display should revert to normal.
If you can't find the CD, you need to find out the model of your sound and video cards and download them from the manufacturers' websites.

I lost sound on my computer

Sometimes a movie will not have sound if you didn't install a good codec pack  get k-lite codec pack off the internet  sometimes your audio drivers are not installed or need to be uninstalled  then reboot.  To find your audio drivers either go to your computer makers site or use UniBlue DriverScanner or Driver Magician etc   check your device manager for yellow exclamation marks (which would show that you are missing drivers)  sometimes you can have windows look for updates to the device if you rightclick and choose update driver software  If this is too difficult for you  i can fix it remotely if you install filetopia and find me at All Good Things room  I'm The_MacGyver

I have lost sound on my pc

You may have accidentally switched-off your PC's sound. Do this:
1: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices
2: In the first "Volume" tab, where there is Device Volume, make sure the "Mute" checkbox is not ticked - the Speaker symbol should also NOT be have a RED tag.
3: Also slide the volume slider to the right...
4: Done!

you may need to install the drivers for the devices you lost after you wiped out your drive, try running the cd that came with your motherboard if the sound card is built in on the mobo.

you could also download the drivers online through the mobo's manufacturer site.
if your computer is not online yet download it to a computer that can go online and place the drivers on a thumb drive or a CD then run it on your computer.

Have lost all sound.Sound icon says no audio output installed but it has been and was working till yesterday.

You have to first check pysically if the sound card is not pysically tampered with.
If not then the sound drivers might have got corrupted or deleted. This can be due to the user erasing them or a virus activity.

You need to run the Driver Cd that came with the computer.
If u dnt know how to use the driver cd. get to me again and will direct u.
thnx
