Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

1 Answer

Turned on a recently "inherited" Viking Sapphire 850 sewing machine. There was what sounded like a bobbin rolling around somehow inside the top of the machine....thread was unwionding through. I gently tipped the machine to look and the bobbin (?) shifted, a waft of smoke came out and the lights, screen, machine went dead. Could you give any insight. Was this a board short circuit. Is this an expensive fix?

The boards have a 5 year warranty, maybe you will fit into that period. It's probably best no to mention that an object in the machine caused the problem.
Best wishes!

My Sapphire Viking sewing machine says thread under stitch plate. I have taken it apart and cannot find any thread or lint. What can I do?

Check that there are no thread pieces, lint, etc. anywhere around the bobbin area. Sometimes, things get pulled into the mechanism where it isn't seen or a sensor has a speck of dust that is interfering. If a thorough cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, it may be time for a service call.

I also found these bobbins: . The part number appears to be 1702.

I hope this helps.

Remove thread message in husqvarna viking sapphire 870 quilt

I had this same problem, on my Designer Diamond. I blew it out with an air can and that didn't work, but then I decided to turn it off, then back on and start sewing a line in reverse. That seemed to fix it. My machine is working fine now.

it is a problem your tech can fix, ( should have been done when he had the covers off) but take it back in and tell him to adjust the sensor on the cutter so it doesn't rub and to clean the sensor. this will fix the problem

I have a husgvarna viking 830. I was working on

If the lever to lift the presser foot is now just loose, take the face cover off (Left side aound light) and take a look, presser bar may have over extended and fallen off the lever connection...needs to be taken even higher as the lever is eased back and reset to "normal"

Difficulty adjusting tension to avoid bobbin looping

it sounds like your bobbin tension is too tight. to adjust bobbin tension, remove bobbin case (remove needle plate first) and adjust bobbin tension screw on side of case until bobbin thread has a slight resistance as you pull it through the bobbin case.

this will be trial and error until you get best result. you should always try and match top and bottom threads. if the top thread is quite thick you may have continue to increase needle thread tension until balanced.

Bobbin Case Assembly

Careful now, don't get in too big of a hurry.
The back side of the hook cover, which holds the hook in place in this machine is supposed to have several grooves in it. If there are no cracks, it's probably ok. The hook should also have a considerable amount of movement, or clearance when the cover is in place. Take that away and it won't sew at all.
The most common noise I hear in these machines is a buzzing or moaning sound from the bobbin area. If this could be an apt description of your sound, remove the bobbin case, roll a cotton swab between your fingers until it will fit inside the center post of the bobbin case and clean it out with alcohol. Allow it to dry completely and then put one drop of machine oil inside this post, place it in the machine and run it. The sound should be gone.
