Hi,
Look on the top of the compressor there are some numbers on the very top of the can you can buy a new compressor by using these numbers... any supply house that sells compressors can cross reference these numbers for you...

Dump it! Honestly if the compressor is shot then thats the best option. Eventually the compressor wears out, but the motor still runs. The cost of Compressor replacement is very high and it will need regassing. The repair costs may be too high. Get an estimate for the job and maybee they will give you a discount on a new model, we used to 30 years ago.

If i want to buy a new compressor do i need a model number of the compressor or just the name of the machine and btus would be enough in this case its an Infinity Air conditioner model kfr35 12000btus


It would be advantageous to have both sets of information at your disposal when purchasing another compressor....however.....what are you going to do after you purchase it ? You have to posess the tools and have the ability to properly contain the refrigerant prior to compressor removal, properly remove and replace the compressor, evacuate the system of all contaminents and reinstall or replace the refrigerant.

So I assume your question was in reference to what information to have on hand when asking a qualified HVAC service tech (contractor) for a replacement cost.

I changed clicks and relays but wires at the compressor burned,only fan runs but compressor still cant start,whats wrong and where is the thermostat?


Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Your problem is not your thermostat. In some models the compressor knocks out the overload relay. They relay could last a few seconds or a few weeks before the compressor knocks it out again. This is especially turn with the LG units.

You will need a multi-meter to check your compressor.

1.) Unplug your unit. Remove the bottom back cover.

2.) Remove the overload components to expose the 3 pins on the compressor.

3.) Inspect the pins on the compressor. Are they clean or are they damaged from heat (Steel melting).

4.) With your multi-meter, set the meter on the lowest Ohms. Read the Ohms between each of the pins. You will have 3 readings. One reading will be high and the other 2 readings will be lower. Add the 2 lower readings together. This value must equal the high reading within a few tenths.

I hope I am wrong. A new compressor depending on the model is $275-$450.00. Include a system filter for $40.00, plus new refrigerant $45.00 and the cost od an experienced technician $300.00.

have dealership discharge airconditioning system.you need to disconnect refrigerant lines going to the AC compressor you probably need refrigerant lines disconnect tools to remove disconnect refrigerant lines.you need to remove drive belt.and safely raise support vechicle remove tire or wheel work from under vechicle you have to loosen AC COMPRESSOR bolts then remove AC COMPRESSOR.be sure pour old refrigerant in a measuring cup so you can pour same amount new oil in the new compressor.add couple ounces if old AC COMPRESSOR dry.

Refridgerator wont start


if the lights and fans are working but the compressor isn't running most likely you have a bad start device,unplug it you can cook the compressor like this,pull it out,remove the bottom back panel and you'll see the compressor,pop off the clip on the start device that's mounted on the side of the compressor,look where the clip goes because you're gonna have to reinstall it when you put the new device in,when you have the clip off,remove the cover and slide the device off of the compressor pins strait out,it's plugged into three compressor pins.when you get it off of the compressor shake it,if you hear pieces rattling around in it it's cooked,that's the easiest way to check it.you didn't send the whole model number,there's three other numbers before these,they're little,106. or similar,i looked this model number up 10659287990 and it doesn't show the start device just an overload and relay,call your parts store,give them the full model number and they will sell you the correct part that you need.

A/c condenser leaks need directions to replace


First things first.

Make certain you have all the parts and tools required before you begin...
You will need a torque wrench to properly replace the unit.

Having said this and not knowing which model or year your Hyundai vehicle is. I will say that if your vehicle is not already running on the R134 refrigerant, this would be a good time to make that switch over and upgrade.

If this is what you are considering, the Air Drier/Accumulator would also need to be replaced at this time. This is the cannister usually nearest the firewall with the two A/C hoses/pipes coming from it.

(A/C Compressor - Drier Accumulator - New refrigerant)

You should completely disconnect your battery.

Removing the A/C Compressor will vary in difficulty depending on it's location.

Some A/C compressors are located on the top of the engine, or just off the side and are really easy to exchange. While others are located in more difficult to reach areas, like underneath.

Depending on where your's is located, you may find it easier to first disconnect the hoses on the back as well as the bracket supporting the rear. Then remove the bolts from the from bolt tabs and proceed to manuever it away, as best as possible..

Same process for the old Drier/Accumulator cannister. Dosconnect wire connector, unbolt hoses and make note of it's position, to help with installing the new cannister properly.

(*** IMPORTANT NOTE***)
Some A/C compressors have a SWITCH. This is generally located on the rear head of the A/C compressor and looks more like a cap that is screwed onto the switch cavity plug. You may note this once you remove your old compressor. Remove that and keep, you will (most likely) need it to use on the new compressor.

I mention this because new compressors rarely come with a new switch and all too often people will install their new A/C compressor without swaping that switch from the old to new compressor... In which case, it will prevent the compressor clutch from actually engaging. Hence the result would be no cold air being detected, and a process of chasing fuses and relays begins in order to try and find out what it is and why it is not working...

(***Hopefully you have read and noted the above NOTE, YES, it is that Important***)

There will most likely be instructions in the box with your replacment compressor and I am assuming that you are replacing with new as opposed to used parts.

Installing the new compressor is in the reverse order. Once everything is tightened up and bolted back together.

As you begin filling with the new refrigerant, take note of any air leak or hissing sounds right away. If any noted, make proper adjustments prefore proceeding.

possibly the relay on compressor is bad. the relay will need to be removed. shake it, if it rattles and or particles fall out of it, it is bad.

With the jumper inplace does the compressor start? What about without? Unless you have more than one transformer you should leavethe jumper.
