Maytag gas dyer Model# pyg3360aww Serial# 10345972an the cylinder will not spin, took off top of dyer and the belts are broken. what do i do.

Remove the broken belts and take then with you to a local appliance parts store. Also write down the make, model & serial # of the unit to ensure the correct part can be found on the shelves, and ordered if not in stock. If you need assistance putting the belts back on, let us know.

If the unit is still under warranty, you can get Maytag at 1 (800) 344-1274 U.S. to pay for them too. If it is, you should call Maytag directly to get the free replacement parts. I found your owner's manual and it says any part on the dryer is guaranteed for 1 year. Here's the link below.

Install dyer belt MAYTAG

Hello there
Here is a detailed instruction for you ok
  1. Remove the two screws that hold the control console to the dryer; they are located on each end of the console. Turn the control console forward onto its face. Disconnect the wiring harness from the dryer to the console. Press in on the locking tab and pull the connectors apart. Set the control panel out of your work area. To remove the top, insert a putty knife between the front and top panels. Locate the retaining clip and push in on it to release the corner of the top panel. Lift up on the corner and release the opposite retaining clip. Set the top panel out of the way. Two screws that attach the front panel to the sides are located at the top corners. Remove the screws and swing the top of the front panel out so that you can access the door switch wiring harness. Disconnect the wiring harness from the door switch and lift the front panel away from the dryer.
  2. Replace the Belt
  3. Locate the idler pulley by reaching behind the drum and motor assembly. Using your hand, push the idler pulley to the left to release tension on the belt2.gif. Notice the routing of the belt around the motor and idler arm for reference when attaching the new belt. Remove the belt from the motor pulley. Lift up on the drum slightly and remove the belt from the drum.

With the rib side pointed inward, lift the drum up and set the belt around the drum. Route the belt through the motor pulley and idler pulley. Pull the idler pulley to the right to reapply tension to the belt. ok?
  4. not too hard
  5. hope this is verry helpful for you
  6. Best regards MIke

Replace dryer belt

Pull the front panel off, remove the top screws and tilt top back. Rout the new belt around drum at the old wear spot with the grooved side against the drum. Next remove the back access door and rout the belt around the idler pulley and motor pulley. There is only one way to do this and get proper tension on the belt.
Also, when you order the belt, ask if it has a belt routing diagram on the belt package.

Could be felt pads and nylon glides on the front drum support are deteriorated.
Could be a sticky build up on the rear drum rollers.
Could be a worn belt tension roller.

Unplug the dryer.
Remove the front panel.
Remove the front drum support.
Remove the belt and drum
Inspect the items listed above.
Replace as needed.
