Just adjust the Start In property in the shortcut within the Menu Tree.
Do Start > Settings > Taskbar and Start Menu. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Advanced button.
An Explorer window comes up with your menu tree as its source. In order, double-click the Programs, and then the Accessories folder. Right-click the Notepad icon and choose Properties. Type your preferred folder in the “Start In” text box, click OK and Notepad will start wherever you wish. Same procedure for WordPad.

Tip

Useful Notepad Trick !

This is real cool for people who use notepad to write down any info on a day to day basis.

Open a blank Notepad file

* Write .LOG as the first line of the file, press enter.

* Save the file and close it.

* Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.

* Type your notes and then save and close the file.

Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

When i save it is opening in notebook

I am assuming you mean "notepad". It sounds like the default program for Word files was changed to notepad instead of Word.
To change it to use Word, find a word file (one with a .doc or .docx extension), right click and under "open with" select "choose default program". Select Word and click the checkbox "always use the selected program" to change the default. Then click OK. It should change the icons to the "W" Word icon, and should open them in word from now on.
Good luck, and feel free to comment if you need more help.

How do I save Webmail messages to my pc.

Assuming you have Internet Explorer- these steps are for IE8 (in safari, opera or any other browser the exact names may change but the steps are the similar):

Click on "Page", "Save As" and chose your location for the file.

Alternately, you can highlight the text you want to save (using Hold Left Click on mouse and drag), then using keyboard hit Control+C to copy. Open Notepad (using the "Start Button/Accesories/Notepad") and type Control+V to paste --the right click and choosing "Copy and/or Paste" works too. You can then save the file using the "File" tab and "Save As". This method does not save all the formatiing but results in smaller file sizes.

I am having trouble changing the default "save" directory on the

The default 'save' directory for Livecam is fixed as: My Documents\My Pictures\LIvecam Files on C: drive.
However, you CAN change the location of My Documents e.g. put it on D: drive. See the MS Knowledge base for how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310147

I have a Camnex T850, tried to copy a e-book from my old Camnex, The Thorn Birds, and I can't get it to copy, all my other e-books did just fine

#1: Save the e-book to your computer. Open My Documents and press it. Then click Move This Folder and move it to your Camnex.

#2: Copy the text on the e-book and open Notepad. put nothing in Notepad and save it to your Camnex then when it is saved and it again and paste the text from the e-book onto the Notepad. Then save it again.

NOTE: Solution 2 has a bigger chance of working then 1 but 1 might work two.

Items i download wont show up after its done downloadin. It will show up in the download box but when it is done downloading it will just disappear like if it was never downloaded. The only downloading...

I am not sure if you are referring to torrent files which are just reference links to the actual file you are downloading. If you are referring to the actual downloaded files it is most likely that they are stored in another location other than in my documents/my downloads. the location that you want your downloads to be stored can easily be changed. Xp will save it to the last location you asked it to so if you saved it in my documents it will be there, if you save it in the temp it will be there, if you want to know for definate then just download something and when says save it will bring up the location it is saving it to..if on the other hand instead of hitting save you hit run then it will save it to the temp folder.

I downloaded the philips media converter but it does not recognize my gogear vibe.it says to connect a philips device to the system which i did.my device is SA1VBEO4K/17

I had the same problem. I finally discovered what to do, as nobody seemed to know what to do, even Philips. Here is what I did to get the program going, even though it didn't see the connected GoGear Vibe (which Songbird did see as connected.)
1) Find where your Media Converter is installed. Mine was located at C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\Media Converter for Philips2) Locate the file named "MediaConverter.SET", which is in the folder mentioned in step 1.3) Use a text editing program, like notepad, to open the file you found in step 2.4) Within the file, locate the line that says "ProfileNeedActivation=1". In my file, it was on the 31st line.5) Change the line from "ProfileNeedActivation=1" to "ProfileNeedActivation=0" That is, change the number 1 to the number 0 (zero, no the letter O)6) Save the file.7) Run the program & enjoy.
A couple of notes: You may not be able to save the file once you're done editing. On my system, there were permission issues preventing me from saving the file directly. When I tried to save, notepad informed me that I couldn't save in the folder, and offered to allow me to save to my Documents folder. I did that, then copied the file from my Documents folder into the correct folder, as found in step 1. When copying, I chose to copy and replace the file. When I did so, the system required Administrative rights, which I allowed. That worked.Another point to pay attention to, if you use notepad to do the editing... When you go to save the file, it will default to saving as a .txt file. That is, it will take your file named "MediaConverter.SET" and try to save it as "MediaConverter.SET.txt". Make sure you either rename the file properly when you're done, or select the file type of *.* (as opposed to *.txt) when you save.
Ok, hope that helps save someone else the frusteration.

Foreign systems in a micro soft word doc.

Whatever you opened the document in hasn't recognised the format you saved the document as. By that i mean, notepad can't read Microsoft Word Documents, etc. What did you open the 'saved document' in?
