Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One Scan/Copy/Fax and Photo Printer

What's wrong with X7170 copy/scan functions?

All scanned or copied pages come out black. direct printing is ok. scan/copy light seems to be nearly out or not as bright as before. If my analysis is correct , "bulb" needs replacement. i'm not afraid to open machine up and replace needed elements. just need to know how to get neede elements and how to correctly open up the "PATIENT" x7170.

    Myself and my insurance agaent have this same problem. All copies are black and scanned images are messed up. Regular printing is fine and it faxes correctly. Time to toss it? Model is the same as previous post (Lexmark X7179)

    please do not try at your if not have proper knowlaged of how to change it if u install anyting wrong your sanner has been damged so i segast u go with a good service technision of scanner its better for u & your scanner

    the scanner model is the 7170

    I am working on getting you a part number and will get it asap.

    The printer shouldn't be too hard to open. Screws on the outside and I can help you along the way

    So after calling Lexmark, this is what I was told.

    You can't get a replacement part, they don't sell them.

    I spoke to Nathan and he told me to call 1-800-358-5835 where you can tell them that he said that you can get, if you ask, 20% off and get free shipping on any All in one Inkjet printer of your choosing which may require you to trade this one in but there isn't much other options unless you can find another one to salvage parts off of since I couldn't find any place otherwise that sells that specific part.

Black copy problem

Subject: Full page solid image or error code C3200
Model: FS-6025MFP

Phenomenon: A full page solid image may appear on the print-out or error code C3200 (Exposure lamp
error) may occur.
Cause: The digital transistor in the CCD power supply circuit at the main board may be damaged,

My copier is not working

Try to re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, re-plug after 30 seconds.
If you're still not able to make a copy or scan, then there could be something wrong with the scanner hardware. If this is the case, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for further assistance.

My lexmark X7170 keeps printing black pages instead of what I am trying to copy. It used to be black stripes but now is completely black.

Do you get the same result/image when scanning to your computer? Remove the cartridges from your computer. Then close the printer cover.Unplug the power adapter from the printer.

Wait at least 10 seconds before replugging the adapter into the printer. This will give enough time for the printer to reset. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges. Try to make a copy or scan again. If you're still getting the same result, I would strongly suggest you to contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

Can't work out how to use the multiscan? I press scan and it comes up with multiscan and I put the first piece of paper in but don't seem to get asked for any more sheets and it therefore just scans one...


Put the pages in the "multiscan" all at once, not just one sheet at a time. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will feed one sheet of your document at a time untill all of the pages are scanned...

Unable to scan or copy.

I also just found that I have the same problem. I called HP and of course it is out of warranty. I have only scanned a few things.
I have never had any luck with HP/Compaq. I think it's safe to say, "Don't buy HP Compaq". We also have a Compaq Laptop that it a POS, too.

Does this help? You obviously have to insert the media type into the media slot on the far right.(omoademola) Using the top control panel Printing tasks Scanning/Copying/Faxing tasks Troubleshooting
The top control panel lets you print an image from a photo card, scan a document or image, and copy a document or image with the press of a button.
Button/Light: Function: 1 Power : Turns the All-In-One on or off. 2 Copy: light Illuminates when Copy Mode is selected. 3 Mode: Changes the copy, scan, or photo card mode. 4 Scan: light Illuminates when Scan Mode is selected. 5 Photo Card: light Illuminates when Photo Card Mode is selected. 6 Rotate: Rotates the image 90 degrees. 7 LCD Panel: Number of Copies- this changes the copy count. Note: This feature is not active in Scan Mode. 8 Display: Shows copy, scan, and photo card selections. 9 Resize: Enlarges or reduces the size of the image. 10 Page Preview: Shows a preview of the output. 11 Select: Secures an option. 12 Menu: Provides options for image. 13 Arrow : Scrolls left, right, up, or down. 14 Stop/Clear: Cancels a print job or clears a selection. 15 Color Start: Initiates color copy, scan, or photo card output. 16 Black Start: Initiates black copy, scan, or photo card output.
