Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

MPT 8051 "Surround Sound System" has suddenly refused to reproduce my TV's audio. It has been marvelous in reproducing my poor TV sound quality. All front panel indicator lamps illuminate normally, however I get no TV screen indications when I work the remote. The remote indicator light lights when pushing buttons. I've been through the wiring several times, they seem to be OK using BNC cables. HELP Bill Wareham

Try performing the usual reset by disconnecting the TV power cable, I do not know the TV details, but it does not look a settings problem.

If the same cable works on different devices (ensure), then the cable is OK. Ensure that the cable has no broken contact in connector are (if using AV cables). If you use an optical audio cable, sometimes a broken cable may work when you move it, test a spare. Also be sure that you connect the AV cable to a proper input on MPT 8051.

If nothing works, test the MPT 8051 audio input using a different device, and do the same on TV to find where the problem is.

Once you find the responsible, next step would be taking apart back panel to resold terminal connector to Audio port, or replacing optical connector.

Digital audio output tv

Digital audio refers to technology that records, stores, and reproduces sound by encoding an audio signal in digital form instead of analog form. Sound is passed through an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and pulse-code modulation is typically used to encode it as adigital signal. A digital-to-analog converter performs the reverse process, and converts the digital signal back into an audible sound. Digital audio systems may include compression, storage, processing and transmission components. Conversion to a digital format allows convenient manipulation, storage, transmission and retrieval of an audio signal.

No sound on the tv

As TV and DVD playing reproduces sound, you have to check TVs tuner function first. Connect the TV to external areal by connecting areal via areal socket. Make an auto-tune function. Refer the user manual about how to make an auto-tune to local on-air program. Make sure that, the TV reproduces picture and sound normally. If it is correct, your TV is perfect in all respect. If not, the tuner to your TV should be replaced with same type and number.

Can't hook up to a flat screen tv

I can only guess as to the nature of your problem, but I'll try. If you're trying to hook up your amplfier and its a 5.1, or 6.1 amp you need to hook up the audio by using the orange output on the flat screen, it may be labeled "coax" or "hd audio out" or surround out, this is the one wire you need to reproduce the surrond sound with left, right, center and rear speakers, and also the sub woofer. The other outputs on your tv will be red and white or red and black, these are the analog audio out and you plug them into your amplifer too, but they won't be 5.1 sound, although your sub woofer will still work. I hope I have helped some.

I have a pioneer vsx 818 v amp, when I set it up we get noise / beeps etc from the surround sound speakers but then when playing a film in 5.1 we get no sound from the surround speaks ..driving me nuts !...

Hello,
To get sound out of your surround speakers, first off go through the receiver setup and make sure that is correct. Also, usually the best soundfields to use for sourround sound is PLII Movie or dolby digital. Next , make sure the source you are viewing is capable of outputting 5.1 sourround sound. Lastly, it is a good thing to remember that sourround speakers are only intended to reproduce sound effects. You certainly can override it so that all speakers play full range audio, but that is not the intention.
Good Luck

How much of this scenario is NEW?

Within limits: Speakers is speakers. They don't know how many other channels are there, so their sound quality is independent of each other. Send them good sound and they will reproduce it.

Improper setup will hurt the 'sound' as much as poor speakers.

Not knowing what you have for speakers now, I would advise you might get yourself somethingto serve as a sub an some surround speakers before you declare your current speakers faulty.

CAN ONLY GET THE SURROUND SOUND TO WORK WITH DVD'S NOT WITH NORMAL TV OR SKY?? WHY??

You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?
