Question about Broan-NuTone N-763RLN Combination Light Fan Exhaust Fan

1 Answer

My Bathroom Fan (Nutone) is sucking very little but blowing quite abit from around the fan asembly meets the cutout in the ceiling. The vent outside is blowing out quite a bit of air, (more than whats being sucked up) I took apart the fan and took out the motor and the baffle looks to open and shut just fine. I Need some help please!!!

I did not use a calking material when I installed it. But I used duct tape around it today and then the sucking came from the holes/clips etc, built into the fan asembly. So I can't really tape up the whole unit. Also I have tried it with the door open and shut and really no difference.
    Thanks for your reply

If it's blowing out the vent tube then there may not be a problem. a way to test is use a candle light it any candle a birthday candle will do then turn the fan on and hold the candle lit about 20 inchs away fron the fan and off to the side, then blow out the candle and watch the smoke if the smoke goes up quickly into the fan then it's working. As for tape I would not use it I would replace the tape with the expansion foam you can buy at a hardware store to fill cracks with one can will fil large areas. Also pull the cover off and look at the fan be sure the blade is turning the right way hope this helps. Remember there won't be that much suction because you have a large room to pull from and a small confined spase to blow threw the pipe so you may not have a problem.

Can I connect two bathroom fan ducts to a single roof vent?

No, both cannot be connected to same vent.
Or vent exhause from 1 fan will vent into other bathroom.
All house vents require separate duct.

Old NuTone 9093n Model replacement.?

Hi -- I just spent a couple of days taking out the old assembly, cleaning all the parts (layers of dust coats) and putting the 9093N back in order to fix the noisy fan. The cold air coming back in is from to the heating and I'd guess the heating element is busted. Yes, you can run it in both airflow modes: ceiling air exhaust and hot air blown to the floor. That said, the noise level on mine hasn't gone down. So I'll look for the replacement assembly. Good luck!

Nutone bath fan how do you clean the vent

Usually the vent cover pulls straight down, and is held in place with 2 V-shaped metal spring wires.
Squeeze each spring wire together to release cover from ceiling box.
Use vacuum to clean vent fan housing. Some vent fans can be disassembled and motor housing removed for cleaning. Do NOT use water on electric motor. Simple vacuum, or dry toothbrush cleaning is good enough.
Spay tiny bit of WD40 on the fan motor shaft or add tiny dab of white grease if desired.
The plastic cover can be scrubbed with soap and water, rinse to remove soap residue, and when dry, paint with aerosol spray paint using 3-5 very light coats applied in 5 minute intervals.

My bathroom Broan exhast w/light makes a constant clicking / tick tock sort of noise when the fan is not running. as soon as I turn the fan on the noise stops and then stops after I turn the fan off, only...

remove the cover and clean anything in the vent , check the fan for anything that could be touching it, as the back draft comes through the vent, something could just be touching the fan blade as this draft makes the blade turn slowly, which would create a ticking noise

When it is windy outside the flap on my exhaust fan flaps open and shut. Is there a problem in the way the fan was installed?

Not likely, Just a condition of the location of the vent and the wind direction.Putting a secondary larger hood over the outside exposure will sometimes help alleviate this.

My blower wheel on our nutone 9093 vent fan keeps

Buy a tube of Household Goop, and put some on the front and back of the hole the motor shaft goes through and glue the wheel in place. Make a little 'pile' or filet around the shaft/wheel joint. Let it dry a couple of hours.Goop is extremely handy, sticks like glue should, stays flexible, is cheap, etc.

My bathroom fan was barely running when now it doesn't run at all,

Hi, W/D here.
These fan motors are fairly rugged, but they do give out sometimes. I have to change them out occasionally, and here's what I do: If the unit is presentable, I don't want to change out the entire unit, just the damaged part. The fans come in a variety of sizes (the ceiling box part, that is) and it is difficult to find one that fits in the same cutout. I unplug the fan from the receptacle in the ceiling box and remove the motor and mounting bracket. I buy the economy version of the fan, or the motor replacement kit at Lowe's/similar, and mount the new motor and fan blade in the old bracket and reinstall. Total cost is ~ $20.
Best regards, --W/D--

You'll be able to access the motor to service it and the wiring junction box from inside the bathroom. Please rate this answer if it was at all helpful.
