Re: sytem error 10
Hi - I found this info on the Nikon Australia website:
"SystemError" or "Lens Error" message in LCD monitor
My COOLPIX camera displays a "SystemError" or "Lens Error" message. What should I do?
Having a "SystemError" or "Lens Error" message displayed on the camera's LCD monitor would generally indicate that your camera needs servicing.
A SystemError is a general error which can be caused by many things: lens problem, CF Card problem, general camera failure, etc. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
Use the memory card that originally came with your camera (or a Nikon approved card).
Remove and replace the battery.
On the other hand, a Lens Error generally means that an error has occured during the lens operation. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
Turn off the camera.
Remove and replace the battery.
Turn on the camera.
If the above tips do not help, your camera must be sent to our Nikon Authorised Service Centres, there are no user serviceable parts in our Nikon COOLPIX cameras.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and we will do everything to repair your Nikon camera as quickly as possible.

Sort of like a Windows Restart to reset the memory.

pull mem card, pull battery. wait 10 secs reinstall battery, turn on. if all is well, and just needs mem card, turn off, install card, turn back on. if you get the memory card error, throw away that mem card, anything else you put it in, might get damaged.
the len is loose and not fixed,so it can not focus and take picture.check whether it is in a bad damage, and then you can send to the repair center.remember do not touch it or pull it dowm by yourself. www.skiliwah.cn/ http://www.digitalcamera-parts.net/
If you are talking about the camera having a system problem... what does that mean? What happens? When does it happen? I have had a number of these very cameras and fixed a few in the past. They are great cameras to take pics with. The problem can be a number of problems caused as a result of things which occured. There could have been some kind of impact, dropping it, water exposure, any of which can lead to this sytem error, and then will need internal repairs. If you can get to the menu, reset it to default on all. See if that changes it, if not better to sell it on a site such as Ebay as parts, as is, or a fixer. The reason is that if the system error continues, this will take camera repair of the kind to dismantle the camera to find the problem.
This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
