Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore dryer and the belt broke. Opened the dryer and can't figure out how to put the belt back on and there is a wheel that came off and not sure where that goes. Looks like the belt may go around the big wheel, but where does the white wheel with the clip go.

Dryer won't turn on

touch the door swich and see if it clicks when you push in on it,if that is good you'll have to check thermal fuse that is located either on blower wheel housing or in back of dryer, check to see if belt broke some dryers have switch that kills dryer if belt breaks

Belt broke

Buy a new belt. Insert the idler pulley into the slots under the motor pulley. The wheel should be on the left side of the motor as you face it.
Put the belt around the drum, then through the idler roller. Then over the motor pulley.

The piece you see is called the idler pulley. Here's a link to a good description of how to change a dryer belt. It should show you what you need to do set it all right.

from front with belt around drum ..gather slack and push under idler and around motor pulley right to left...recommend doing it before reinstalling front place rollers on front panel under front lip of drum and lift ..easier than trying to reach under front panel and will a little more slck in belt

Kenmore 90 seies belt replacement

you have to remove the top and front panel,if you have a top lint filter remove the two lint screen filter screws, pull the top toward you and up,lint screen inside, most pull forward and up,so you might have to remove the two console head screws(one on each side, flip up and remove 4 more screws, now disconnect the door switch, now remove the 2 screws on the front panel top 1 on each side, now pull up and off, remove any other wires that might go to the door, now pull the drum out,now look down at the motor pulley wheel and the idler wheel, the belt goes around the drum, now put the drum back in place, now put the belt under the idler wheel and up onto the motor pulley, replace everything and your done-mike
